Midland's Open Door — Local services in Midland

Well where do I start...? I stayed here back in February of 2016. Just to stay here you have to fill out all this paperwork. The capacity is only 17 men. During my entire stay I suffered from diarrhea. It later occurred to me why. They force the occupants at the shelter to work the kitchen. Then they continually force religion on you. I’m sorry but that’s just wrong. As far as the other men staying there, I befriended many fine individuals. Michigan is no place to begin getting your life together. It took over two weeks to get scheduled for a bridge (EBT) card. They force u out in the morning with the idea you’ll find work... Hah🤣 that’s a joke. Just because someone has checked into a shelter, doesn’t mean u have the right to make them your slave and dominate them. I ended up deciding to leave one morning after coming down stairs from my room to discover I was locked-in. I’m not property and that dog don’t hunt with me. Skip this slave house and hop a train to Bham Alabama. You can’t starve in Birmingham and you’ll get ebt card same day. Alabama wants to help, Michigan wants to badger u and point fingers as they...

Not a good place what so ever they say they are Christian based but how can they be i had my daughter go there and they picked on her to the point that they kicked her out and has no place to go why do they have a shelter for homeless and then kick people out this place is a joke. Then you call and try to talk to someone and about the issue and they don't return your calls they make them leave 9-5 everyday mon thou fri my daughter just got a job and was doing everything they asked her. Im not in Michigan to help her im out of state. The place is a joke. Some kind of Christian homeless shelter is this ? They all say their Christian's then gonna kick people out that truly has no place to go. And one of the staff members caused a big sean and told the hole house why they kicked her out and thats not supposed to happen either . That place has went down hill so much over the years. It's sad. And a horrible place to try and stay i would not recommend it to anyone not even my dog. Im going to see what I have to do and whom I need to get in contact with to have something...

Went there October 20th 2020 to get assistance in my time of crises and they never once called be back to help! Instead assuming that I wouldn't get assistance before next rent was due and then straight up denied me without calling or anything! Then I called there today because 211 said they were still helping and I got told I was being aggressive over the phone!? I explained that I have 12 mental disordsers and that I wasn't being aggressive and that I need help and she kept insuating that I was and next thing I know I blacked out and hung up!
