I've shopped at many Plato's Closets across the Twin Cities an none compare to this location. That is not a good thing. I believe, as others are saying, that it has to do with the owner /manager. She is an older stuck up woman that struggles to run that store.
Even just from the most basic things such as organization and can't pull through. When asked how or if there was any organization to the men's shoes, as her employee grimaced she responded "not really you just kinda have to look through all of them." Sorry, but I don't wear all sizes and I definitely don't have time to search through your piles of warn out thrashed shoes. I almost wanted to ask her if she was hiring, only so that I could organize it myself and make my shopping experience better.
After reading many other reviews about this location, it seems that they are very picky on what they chose to sell. This would make sense if what you saw on the racks were an indication of that. Unfortunately, what you see is very worn pieces that are very outdated trying to get sold for way more than they are worth, simply because it has an adidas/nike/under Armour logo on it. However they do somehow have quite a few racks of brand new name brand items. Now keeping in mind that this is a second hand consignment shop, you would expect that kind of pricing. Well, you're out of luck. These are exactly the same prices you'd find at a Nordstrom rack on the same kind of items. Not only is she charging way to much on items that should be priced higher than others, her prices are outrageous on items that shouldn't even be in the store. For example a cotton beanie for 13 dollars that could be sold for 3.
There are also perks to shopping at the other Plato's locations. If there wasn't already enough to dislike about this location, they also don't do the points/frequent shopper program. Why? I was told "because we don't do that here."
What this "manager/owner" needs to realize is that she is not a designer boutique and instead a a "single money sign, 2 star rated"...
Read moreI never post reviews but after experiencing what my sister went through this location needs to held accountable for their horrible customer service. Let me start off by saying this was our very first time selling to Plato’s and of course we had no idea what to do and the employees just expect you to know how selling your items to them works and give you horrible attitude. Walking in there was not welcoming greeting, felt very cold/uncomfortable, my sister had dropped a small basket and small bag off to be sold at 11:30am and was told to be back anywhere between 5:30-6pm. Upon arriving another women had walked in to sell items as well. As we walked in right behind her, I am assuming the manager? Older blonde women with glasses loudly tells her (more like scolded her) and tells her “you are wayyy past the selling point, you need to come in tomorrow at 11 and hopefully have a better chance of selling your items.” And that was it, how professional! I could tell this gal was in shock and a little embarrassed. Is it that hard to be nice and first off greet people? And maybe not scold her for coming in late… anyways as she left we went up to the counter and asked for our items and what exactly they were taking. I had 2 pairs of brand new vans with tags and boxes, retail for $70 each ($140 total ) and offered $16 each ($32 for both) which is ridiculous, but oh well I just wanted to leave and never come back. I do not recommend coming to this location unless you want to be talked down to and treated like you’re incompetent. They need to be welcoming and treat people how they want to be treated, something they should have been...
Read moreThe worst Plato’s closet in MN. I called ahead of time on my way there to double check if they were still buying for the day (it was around 11am), the girl said yes and will be for at least another 3 hours. I show up not even 20 minutes later and they tell me they are done buying for the day LOL I tell the girl I called and they ended up letting me drop off my stuff but told me it probably wouldn’t be done until almost close. I said fine, I already drove 30 minutes and I’ll come back. I come back later to find they bought only 7 items totaling $17 even though they told me my stuff was “great styles and brands.” They didn’t even buy any of my newer Lululemon stuff. I get the bin back and they literally shoved and stuffed all of my clothes back into my bin causing all of the clothes I freshly washed and steamed before bringing to become completely wrinkled. Also when I arrived, there were a good amount of people in line waiting to purchase things as well as pick up their buys and not one worker in sight. I think we waited at least 5 minutes all just randomly glancing at each other wondering where any of the workers were. Shopped the store really quick and a lot of the clothes have wear and are highly priced. Workers aren’t very friendly either. This Plato’s is a complete waste of time - DONT SELL HERE! I went to a different location the next day, and they bought 75%...
