Stop trying to take people's dogs away from them.

I live in Lake Olympia, so I've seen this farmer's market many times while walking my dogs. While I understand why the farmer's market may not allow dogs near the produce, it's ridiculous that they expect dog owners to leave their dogs with strangers and go inside. Even if I were to trust my dog with a complete stranger, he'll howl if separated from me.

And what happens the instant two dog owners drop their dogs off? Not all dogs want to be in forced close proximity to a strange dog. They're asking for a dog fight; I've seen it plenty of times while running dog adoption events that two random dogs in a confined area won't always get along. My dog has been charged by other dogs in this neighborhood five times his size; no way am I letting him get hurt while I buy zucchini.

If you're going to expect people with dogs to go to one part of the market and not others, have the part they're allowed in be dog friendly with water bowls and chairs to sit in. Then maybe use that fancy app to bring them the produce they order instead of asking them to leave their dogs behind while they shop. I also don't see why a food truck or two can't sit outside the produce area. Tons of restaurants have dog-friendly patios.

And if you're going to ban dogs, just ban them, put a sign up and stop trying to have it both ways. You can't expect to take my dog away from me and then get...

Love having this Farmer's Market in my neighborhood. I found wonderful honey made with local flowers (important for allergies!), a variety of other foods including homemade jelly, exceptional desserts, lavender products, produce, eggs, meat...the people are wonderful, easy access and a great atmosphere. Participation is increasing. Come one down!!!!! It will be well...
