I wish I would have seen these reviews before I decided to purchase my living room set from Ashley's, biggest mistake of my life. They have by far the worst customer service ever. The person that helped us, David lied to us and was rude and not to mention the manager (Modesto, CA) herself was rude and tried to make me sound stupid.
First of all, David, the person that helped us had us pick everything out and didn't mention anything about some items being back ordered. So of course when we were about to swipe our card he tells us, so we got upset and chose other items that were not back ordered. When we told him we wanted to choose items that were not back ordered, he said "they're just lamps." Really? Yes they are just lamps but one, we are paying for our furniture and get what we want and two, "those lamps" that you sell are what puts food in your table. Then he informed us about delivery and how it worked. He let us know about the text messaging option and if we didn't confirm the scheduled time frame given to us, that we could call back and schedule a specific time that we would be home to receive our furniture. So a few days later I received a text message to confirm the appointment time frame they gave me or to call. So I called and was connected with customer service and I told her I wanted to schedule a specific time that I will be home and she interrupted me and said "no we don't do that." She asked me where I purchased my furniture from and I told her Modesto, CA. I was transferred to the Manager (at least that's who she said she was) in Modesto, CA and it was an even worse experience.
The manager from Modesto was so rude to me and didn't even apologize for her employee's error. She basically denied that he said that and said, "I'm sorry, we don't do that." I clearly let her know that I was unhappy with my experience since I was lied to by her employee. She didn't try to make it right and instead tried to make me feel stupid. I asked her if she could give me a specific time so I could make sure someone was going to be home because I worked until 2:30. She did not want to give me a more specific time, all she kept saying was "anywhere between 12:30 to 4:30. Of course I knew that because that is what the text message said. When I asked about canceling my order she didn't even try to make me, "the customer" change my mind or even apologize, she said, "of course, here's the number." Seriously didn't sound like the manager at all. And to top it off, before we got off the phone she ended the conversation with "okie dokie" when she clearly knew she didn't fix the issue and still did not apologize. Not very professional to me.
Even after I experienced this with the "manager", I did not cancel my order because me and my husband really liked this living room set. So my husband ended up missing work to have our furniture delivered :( I know how sad! We kept the delivery time frame they gave us which was 12:30-4:30 and they did not show up! At 2:00 my husband called the delivery guys to check where they were at because he needed to run to the store really quick but they didn't answer or returned his voicemail. It was 4:25 and I called them and their phone was off. At 4:50 I received a call from the delivery guy and he apologized for not making it out due an injury. He apologized and told me how to reschedule. I asked him if I can go to the store and cancel my order and he said yes and apologized for the way the Modesto manager treated me and told me that they didn't treat him as well either.
Sorry for such a long post but seriously do not waste your time here. Yes it's nice and looks convenient but they're so unprofessional, it's a joke. I will never buy from here again! So I went in to place and order we left to think about it they called us back after the store had closed the “sales manager” said he would give a big discount if we did 2 yr financing as opposed to the 5 yr promo they had at the time. He took $200 off and did not honor the half off price for again the sale they were having. We really wanted the furniture so we got it anyways. I called to change delivery date as we we’re getting keys to our new home sooner. I spoke with a women on the phone she advised they can deliver Monday sep 1st (holiday). I did not get my furniture on the new delivery date. I spoke with a male he said there is no notes regarding my call. I said fine we will keep same delivery date. I called and spoke with “store manager” or whatever the highest lady there is and she was offered $100 off my almost $6,000 order for “inconvenience” because I called the “call center” not the store she did not know how to read the notes that were left. I mentioned the right thing to do was refund the delivery fee as I did not get the delivery on the date I was advised of. After discussing she offered my delivery fee in gift cards. Delivery day comes they provided a time frame from 2:30-6:30 we get a message at noon stating arrival time is in 10 min my husband rushes to new house and waits over 2 hrs as they did not show up in 10 min. Delivery time come they guys threw the furniture off the truck they came in to “assemble” but we’re actually unable to assemble because on one end there were no brackets to connect the pieces together on the other side the brackets did not like up. We ordered a sectional and received a single chair. In the end they advised they could not give us the product we originally wanted and agreed on because the salesman did not know his products. We cancelled the order and offered to return gift cards as we did not want them any longer the sales manager advised we are welcomed to keep them. Later that week we went in to purchase a desk and the store manager refused to accept our gift cards it was the least they could do. This store is an absolute joke. I will never shop here, recommend this place and will always advise to shop literally any where else. The store manager was raising her voice at me on the store she was trying to provide false information. We did end up getting the desk for “free” however they were suppose to honor the sale price online and we wanted the furniture protection and we would pay the difference. It was not an easy fix but they were both determined to see that we (their customers) were satisfied with our experience at Ashley. And we are, the store experience was great. However, the Ashley Warehouse leaves something to be desired. Our first visit to the store was on June 24th, and the order was on June 24, 2018, the bed arrived but only after a canceled trip. Bed arrived 2 weeks later, motor didn’t work for the “Ergo” frame, but the delivery personnel said someone would call to set an appointment, no one ever did. We called about 4 days later. The person my husband talked to walked him through fixing the issue with the “ergo” frame. After 2 other delivery attempts we received some of our living room furniture, about 6 weeks after ordering in store. We are still waiting for the remainder of the order, close to 2 months. On the first and second delivery attempt the tracking order stated that ALL items would be delivered. Both those attempts didn’t happen. When the third delivery was scheduled, it was a partial delivery, and the tracking order said it was a full order. Then we had another delivery and tracking order said all would be delivered, one rug was delivered. So now we are waiting for the last two items. The Ashley Warehouse clearly has a lot of problems. Side note, time frames are given but the deliveries don’t come close to times given. For one of the attempted deliveries that didn’t happen, delivery was scheduled for 10:30-3:30. Nothing, so at 5:30 WE called the store and either Gerry or Vanessa called the warehouse. This happened each time. Each time Vanessa and Gerry did all that they could to help us. But they are at the store and apparently the warehouse is quite a distance. Customer satisfaction doesn’t seem to be a concern for the warehouse, it should be. Your stores do an excellent job and your warehouse does a horrible job. Warehouse personnel/procedures should be seriously “overhauled”.
