šŸ™Œ Vegan options at Vallarta Market! šŸ›’ 🌮 A chain of Latin-owned markets has expanded to Modesto, California, offering a surprising number of vegan options. The first Vallarta Market was family owned and operated and opened in Van Nuys, California in the 80’s, offering native Mexican favorites to the community. Now the market has expanded to over 50 locations in California. The newest addition to Modesto is off Pelandale Ave, and coming soon to the Century Center off Orangeburg. šŸ“ 🫘 Aside from the typical bulk grains, nuts and spices, plethora of plant milks, and even frozen fare, there is more to be found than meets the eye. Vallarta Market has a fresh ā€˜Guacamole & Pico De Gallo’ stand where they make guac and pico on the spot (with our without added spice), ā€˜La FruterĆa’ a cut fruit stand, plus a ā€˜Jugos Y Aguas Frescas’ bar serving juice shots and fresh made beverages. 🄤 šŸš The prepared food area is filled with clean eats with minimal ingredients like roasted cauliflower, regular and sweet potatoes, quinoa, rice blends, and even beans without lard or pork. Most surprising of all was their prepared vegan macaroni and cheese! The mac & cheese was ok. It’s a very basic blend of vegan cheese over noodles, but for a market not catering to vegans, this is a unique find and something I think many will enjoy. šŸ˜‹ šŸ§€ There is a refrigerated plant-based section filled staples like Miyoko’s Liquid Mozzarella, Just Egg, tofu, vegan meats and cheeses, plus harder to find products like Treeline Cashew Cheese spreads (my favorite), Follow Your Heart Feta and Parmesan. I picked up the Plantspired Tofu Tossables I’ve been wanting to try! šŸ™ šŸ›’ @Local Since 1985 are secret a haven for vegans looking for whole foods, and those who want prepared foods they can simply heat and eat. Either way, you can find staples for a vegan Mexican menu, and apparently even prepared vegan macaroni and cheese. šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø šŸŽ‰ I know I’m late to the party, but am stoked about Vallarta Market being local. I can’t wait for the Century Center location to open! Have you been? What did you try? šŸ’¬

I’m so honored that I was able to witness the opening of their first Vallarta Supermarkets location within Stanislaus County. If you know me, Vallarta Supermarkets is definitely the place to be — but the drive used to be SO long because the closest branch to me was at least a 2 and a half hour drive to Fresno. After hearing that Vallarta Supermarkets was going to open in Modesto, I let out a sigh of relief because I wouldn’t have to drive so far anymore, especially it being a 25-30 minute drive from my partner’s house in Tracy — which is SO much more convenient. As a result, the parking situation has COMPLETELY changed — what used to be a very dead mall is now a LIVING PLAZA thanks to Vallarta. However, be aware of the parking — it can get really crowded at times, and it can get REALLY hard to find parking, especially if you’re trying to go on a weekend. Upon entering Vallarta, I was BLOWN AWAY by the amount of departments there were — a carnicerĆa, a tortillerĆa, a beberĆa, a panaderĆa….. honestly that list could go ON and ON. I was just amazed at the amount of people that worked there, hour in and hour out. They even had tamales ready to go, and y’all knowing me as a foodie — you know I HAD to cop some tamales to bring on the road with me. They didn’t just have tamales de puerco, they also had tamales de queso and tamales de pollo (regular pork tamales, special ones were the chicken tamales and cheese filling tamales). The pork tamales had enough masa and pork consistency, and so were the queso tamales. What’s most surprising is, they DO have an Asian section — with Filipino instant noodles and staples that they sell at Asian supermarkets, but with limited options. They also had TONS of options when it came to pan dulce — most of which were priced quite fairly. Regular conchas came at around 99 cents per concha, which I found it to be quite cheap and hard to believe it was THAT cheap. In addition, the staff at Vallarta were quick to respond to any questions we had, and they had enough people on the floor to assist us with any needs and requests we had. Whenever I’m craving food to the heart, I think I’ll be back for more and will try to come as often as I can — as much as possible.

Very large burritos 🌯. Nice selection of food in the taqueria. And a large dinning area to eat.

I was referred by one of my close friends to go to this market. I had high expectations because of the fresh fruit, and I wanted to see what the rave was about with this place.

Being that my mother and I are both black, we went today 8/8/25 to this market at around 12 pm, and we were able to get the produce that we usually buy. HOWEVER, every corner that my mother and I took, we were met with being looked down upon as if we were going to steal. And on top of that, we were being followed for this exact reason.

Regardless of this DISGUSTING and ANTI-INTELLECTUAL impressions coming from the majority of the workers, especially those at check out, YALL KNOW THAT YOU GUYS NEED TO DO A BETTER JOB ON YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE.

How do you guys seriously think you're gonna thrive in your business if you are going to act like every black person you see enter the store is going to steal?!?! My mother and I work too hard to tolerate this nonsense, ESPECIALLY WHEN WE EARN OUR MONEY.

It is seriously tiring and redundant that there are STILL workers in stores like you all that have this UNEDUCATED mindset. Educate yourself on race and be open-minded that there is a diaspora of black people, like any other race.

Will we be coming back here ever again? NOT EVER AND NOT EVEN A DIME FROM US AGAIN Will we be recommending this place to anyone? HELL NO

I will be telling my community to not shop here and to shop elsewhere because NO ONE should ever be...

My husband and I finally decided to check out the New Spot everyone has been raving about non stop.

First thing is First, Wow what a beautiful store, the details to everything, organization, and presentation was stunning.

We worked our way around the store slowly since it was out first time there. The food area was a little packed we went about 7:30pm. I stopped by to try the horchata 10/10. I also learned you could get the drinks in Jugs.

They make fresh tortillas and chips. The workers were so nice and helpful. Kaitlyn helped us with our food. Jasmine with drinks and at check out Lisett was nice with a smile on her face. Overall atmosphere, workers, food and prices. 10/10.

I recommend the ceciche. I grabbed a Togo cup to try at home. Needless to say it's gone now. I'm excited to go back and do more shopping. Definitely something the Modesto area needed and more customers in the surrounding...
