While some issues with Turner's are company-wide (ex: not accepting certain state-issued licenses as "proof-of-residence" for purchases, even though the CA government website and the Office of the Attorney General explicitly states they're perfectly acceptable), I'll have to put the blame for poor customer service on the employees at the Modesto Turner's. I went in to take my FSC (Firearms Safety Certificate test) and paid my fee as directed at the front register. After a few minutes, I was given the 30-question multiple choice paper test by an employee and started working on it at the gun counter. I finished the test at around 3:25pm and politely let the nearby employee who gave me the test that I was finished. He (his name was Wyatt) then said to wait while he helped another customer with an ammo purchase, which I didn't mind at all, so I waited. But after another ten minutes I still hadn't been helped. Wyatt continued to ignore me and moved on to other customers who barely walked in. I stayed nearby the entire time and never left the counter, since I still had my test on me. I'd hail the other employees at the counter about every 10 minutes to see if I could finally submit my paper, but they also kept telling me to wait some more. Wyatt didn't get back to me until around 4:15pm, even though I had been standing right by the whole time as directed. The worst part isn't just that the employees kept helping customers out-of-order for the whole ~50 minutes I was told to stand and wait, but the fact that there was zero urgency or courtesy. I didn't ask for an apology or anything and stayed polite and thanked them at the end, but Wyatt never apologized for the extremely long wait and just said "Oh" when they finally decided to take a look at the paper they gave me. And when he had been working with the other customers, they were loudly talking about random stuff half the time. It's fine to have off-topic talks with people of course, but when someone else has been patiently waiting nearby for a very long time, and has been there long before the other customer even entered the store, you should NOT be having slow, random conversations with your hands OFF the computer and not doing anything. He wasn't working at all during the random loud talks, and was just standing there for long periods of time, doing nothing to continue working so that another customer could finally be helped. This isn't right. I only came in for an FSC test, which should only take a few minutes at most, and ended up having to stay over and hour in total and just stand waiting. I was originally going to look at some pistols after the test, but obviously I did NOT want to risk having to wait all the way until closing to do so. Please retrain your employees - I mean this with...
Read moreWent in looking to purchase an AR-10, and while I was browsing a bunch of people asked if I needed help. When it came time for me to make an inquiry, the heavy set older man with beard (didn't get his name) came up to me and asked what I needed help with. I told him I'd like to look at their selection of AR10s. The man replied with "How much money do you have?" And then proceeded to show me a $6,000 SCAR. I will admit that it had all the bells and whistles, but it was not what I asked to see. And when I asked about any AR10 lower receivers, heonly told me how many upper receivers they have. I find it very disrespectful and very poor customer service to start with asking how much money I have and then proceed to be the highest amount of unhelpful that is humanly possible. Will never return to this store. I'm sure plenty of other smaller shops in Modesto would appreciate my business and actually show me the guns I'm looking for. After I left, I visited a local small gun store and purchased an AR and plenty of ammo at way better prices. They also threw in some free merch...
Read moreOn Saturday 6/24/2023. This was my first time in the Modesto Turners. Even though reading about how terrible this store's service is, I took the chance to experience it for myself. As I entered, the layout of the store was very organized and clean. I made my way to the ammo section. The salesperson was helping a couple, as I scanned the shelves for 20 gauge ammo. After helping them, he promptly greeted me and asked if I needed help. He was very knowledgeable and courteous ( I failed to get his name), about what I was looking for. He also recommended specific home defense rounds, that I can use. After making my selection and purchasing, I left as a satisfied customer. I will also be coming back, as a...
