A man approached me in the parking lot of Kohls and asked if I shop at Home Depot. I told him yes and asked why. He told me that home depot will only give him store credit for his items as it's been too long but he really needed the cash. I said sure I'll give you the cash for your store credit as long as the customer service returns his items and verifies the funds. (I didnt want to be buying stolen goods) We went inside to the customer service counter where the employees recognized and greeted the man with smiles. Saying "back again?" He said "yep found someone who will use my store credit and give me cash" he returned his items and they verified the amount, put it on a card and handed it to me and the receipt. I said ok let's go out to my truck so I can give you the cash ($673) After giving him his cash I went back in with the card to do my shopping. Then one of the employees who had just handled the return said "I hope you don't plan on spending that." Like it was funny. I said "yes I sure do" then they told me that I couldn't because it was attached to the other guys License # and he was wanted for returning stolen items previously that morning 4 hrs earlier! I said but y'all just returned more stuff right in front of me. They said it was against their policy to say anything and that I should have known it was a shady transaction! I spoke to the manager Chuck who was less than sympathetic to the situation and also placed the blame solely on me. Then the store manager who I know personally Jeff Woods came out and I thought surely he will make it right. Wrong again! He accused me of doing business with a shady character! When in fact his store had done multiple transactions with this "shady" character today! Not believing what i was being told i called the Monroe PD who came quickly. After hearing what happened they too were in disbelief of what had just happened. However being it's private property Home Depot can essentially do what they did and its just policy. The Police and myself are still confused as to why Home Depot never reported the man after the first incident. I called corporate and they said they support their stores managers decisions. All in all im out the cash but luckily Home Depot recouped it's loss and the criminal is Free and probably high as a...
Read moreThis location of Home Depot needs some SERIOUS education on service dogs. I just moved to the area, and I went shopping (for moving boxes ironically) and when I first walked into the store there was an employee (who I later learned was a MANAGER) started stomping and clapping at my service dog. My dog did exactly what he was supposed to, he ignored this uneducated employee. We went about our business and did our shopping, I paid, and left the store to place my boxes into my vehicle. I chose to come back into the store and try and educate the gentleman by going to the manager on duty and discussing what happened.
This is where things went bad and why I'm writing this review on their employees. I approached the woman that checked me out and asked to speak with the manager on duty. She pointed to the gentleman who was horribly disrespectful to my working dog. I started trying to explain to him why it was inappropriate and just plain dangerous to interfere with a working service dog! Then the other manager on duty walked up, asked what was going on, and then she told me I needed to leave, dogs were not allowed in the store.
I informed her he was a service dog, and she continued her statements that dogs were not allowed. I told her under the American With Disabilities Act he was allowed in the store, she and I went back and forth for awhile and finally she said she wasn't going to discuss this with me further, I needed to leave. I was trying to educate her that she was about to break the law by forcing me out of her store, but I realized it was pointless. I told her I had done my shopping, and that I would be calling corporate. She hollered at me "thanks for the threat" and I responded "it wasn't a threat."
I went to the parking lot, called the Home Depot where I used to shop in my past state and spoke with them about the situation. They, who were fabulous with my dog, were horrified, and immediately got me the number for corporate. The next business day, I called corporate.
We'll see if education will happen...
Read moreAbsolutely awful service. I bought a hot water heater manufacturer defect and they only would give me in store credit couldn’t order what I needed to replace it as it comes online so now I have over $600 that I can’t use. SoI decided to just get another and doing the exact one from another company same sku and even though the policy states they price compare the in store customer service refuses to uphold any policies on the website or placed in store when I point it out. This is false advertisement and misleading. If they don’t want to do it they won’t. The customer service cashier with glasses and braids on 10/6 at closing was absolutely rude actually told me i I was arguing bc I asked about the policy on returns as well lied and said the manager said they wouldn’t return it at all because there was an argument (that didn’t happen) I asked for the managers name and she walked up and I asked about the employees accusations of not taking it back she stepped in turns out the cashier was already clocked out even though she was still at work and I was her customer and she wasn’t giving me the correct amount of refund it went from $444 to $625 once the manager stepped in. Home Depot has been an absolute disaster to use for home improvement and appliances. Contacted the 800 service number and they stated what the customer service cashiers said about price compare was absolutely incorrect. How does Home Depot allow these in store ppl to not comply with...
