Artisan Design & Construction — Local services in Montclair

My project with Artisan Design and Construction was initiated by my neighbor who lived in unit below my unit. My neighbor and I both had water damage in the master bathroom caused by water running from the unit above.

We scheduled for an appointment to have both units to be looked over by Prince, the design consultant. He then put together an estimate that needed to be done on both units. After we sent the estimate to the insurance company used by unit above, we were notified that the insurance company would only will allow to pay 1/3 of the estimate.

We asked appaiser from the insurance company to come to take look at the damages. Prince made himself avaible to meet the appraiser. Appraiser did not agree with our estimate. However Prince did not give up. He put together a detailed estimate that explains why it is necessary to have listed things to be done, approached to insurance company himself and negotiated to bring the appraised estimate up to his allowable price.

His team was remarkable. Prince scheduled 2 weeks for the whole renovation for both units. They went extra miles to get better quality material, to maintain the working area clean, finish to be flawless and to complete within expected timeframe. Luke the lead worker and his crew were so pleasant to have. They were always so happy and appreciative.

I experienced many contactors in this area and none of them met the deadline and stick with the price offered in the beginning. Prince and his team were professional and reliable. We worked with Artisan Design and Construction to customize the walk-in closet in our master bedroom.

Our project started with a visit to our house by Prince the design consultant. Prince spent time with me to understand my wife's requirements, did the measurements, and help recommend a design.

I was quite impressed on his attention to detail; e.g., ensuring that the hardware used for our cabinets match with the hardware used elsewhere in our house (brushed nickel hardware in a modern style). The option he suggested for the material for our cabinets ended up making the custom closet in the end to integrate and blend in well with the trim of the house (base boards, door style), so it looked like the closets were part of the house design rather than a later addition.

During the installation day, Luke the Master Carpenter came on schedule, and started the process with a review of the design and the space. He noticed a discrepancy with molding where a special cutout on bottom of the cabinet would need to be made to accommodate. He brought this up to my attention and provided a solution.

The installation was completed within the expected time frame, and we were very happy with the end result. As mentioned above, it integrates nicely with the the trim and style of the house, so it really looked like part of the design from the beginning.
