I’ve visited this store many times over the years but they’ve rebranded.
Earlier in the day (Saturday), I ordered a cup of pizza bites. A cashier grabbed the cup, and I could see the pieces were dark brown and crispy on the edges. I did not touch them. Instead, I asked (politely) if I could have a different cup. I told him I wanted some that were a little less browned. I even avoided pointing out that they looked overcooked. There were people behind me, and I was trying to be respectful of the business. The guy asked which ones I wanted but he seemed defensive. I could not understand what else he mumbled but I knew it was unnecessary. The whole interaction felt awkward — for no reason.
Later that night, I stopped back in to look for soft drinks. I was staying at the Spindrift Inn and they only offer breakfast. I had not yet seen the convenience store, which was located on the same street. The cookie store was empty this time, and I was the only customer. The man behind the counter (same guy) clearly saw me walk in. He kept his eyes on the register and never acknowledged me. Not even when I stood directly in front of him to ask if he carried canned or bottled 7-Up/Sprite. At that point, his behavior seemed connected to my earlier visit (pizza bites).
Cashiering still requires basic people skills. A simple greeting or eye contact is not asking much. Unbelievable that this man was holding a grudge over some pretzel bites. He pretended I wasn’t there so I left. A bit disappointing, because how dare I ask for a different cup of pretzels when 4 out of 5 looked dry and crisp.
I understand this place (Great American Cookie/Nestle Toll House) went through some changes but the customer should not be affected. Needless to say, I won’t...
Read moreA business like this needs to close permanently. The cookies are way overpriced, cheaper and better cookies at Starbucks. The cookies here are the kind that come out of the plastic bag. The clerk is slow and sassy. Do not come here and support these nefarious snakes. Never coming here again, telling all my friends and family do not waste your money on a business that preys on the wallets of parents. The interior lacks any kind of modernity, looks like it was put together from a goodwill junk pile. The counters were dirty, how could this be when you have two bored clerks texting behind the counter.
Ps I work with a lot of tourist and I am adamant to dissuade any of them into this tourist trap. Get a flannel from Pendleton,Yes. Go to bubba gump, great seafood. But do not come here it is a supreme waste of money. Spoil your kids at the candy...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars, I would. No one was answering the phone when I called in to place an order for a standard m&m cookie cake, so I went ahead and ordered a cake online via the website linked here and received confirmation via email. That was two days ago. I called in several times today to see if my order would be ready and no one picked up. My husband shows up at the designated time to pick up our pre-ordered and paid for cake, and they said the order was "never passed down," whatever that means. They offered us a refund or to have the cake ready the next day. It was for a birthday, and waiting for the following day was not acceptable. This was such a huge disappointment. I will not be visiting or ordering from this shop again and will be recommending against ordering from here to...
