Depending on what you thrift for this place is either going to be great or poor, hence the three-star rating. For me, I rarely go anymore because the prices on the things I tend to look for have gone up in price and as such turnover is iffy to completely stale.
Records: this is my biggest gripe. Four dollars or more for a record at a thrift store is complete nonsense, especially when 90% of them are dull, scratched, and more accurately priced at 25-50 cents and still not worth buying. Vinyl is not a precious commodity that has inherent value, it matters what the music is and that it's cared for, and nobody is going to spend that much for something that a record shop would toss in the dollar bin.
Books: pricing is worse than other area thrift stores and selection tends to be less interesting, but I still look and have found something to buy once or twice.
Clothing: good turnover and fairly priced in my experience. Not the reason I thrift but enough to get the overall experience to even. Oddly enough, this is the exception to the seeming new rule of pricing "vintage" items way up, in that I've actually found a couple cool garments for the same as normal ones.
This all said, they do take very good care of the shop and I also appreciate the choice of pricing things to match even dollar amounts after tax. I'd encourage Hope to return to their thrift store roots and leave this antique mall wannabe stuff behind and then they would be one of the better thrift stores...
Read moreThis place really is horrible. Half broken Junk. Junk. Junk. The lady with dreadlocks is rude and the guy that runs the place obviously hasn't ran anything before. 3/4 of the itmes should be tossed in the trash. The prices are ridiculous!!! I've never seen anything like this before!! Thrift stores should be just that.. thrifty. The hope center preys on a certain class of people that don't have technology in their back pockets to research the price of items. Here is an example: they have a three person REI tent sitting out in front right now priced for $243 once googled you will find it on sale $98... Also a mountain bike that's missing a left brake cable for $200... Googled new at Walmart for $89. A three pack of tennis balls $10..... I spoke to the manger about this and he reminded me of the charity part, kind of chuckled and said "prices are set and can't be changed" I was like "really... Prices "SET"? What the heck your a second hand store..Your not a NAPA store selling NAPA brand filters where price setting is understandable due to promotion, production and distribution cost as well as value of the product reviewed by customers... So my Question is why not ask for my donation at the door and let me decide how much instead of trying to rob me blind by marking things up beyond its first price point? Items don't sell or move due to price you'll see it on the shelf for three weeks. I live here and do not...

Such a shame, I have shopped here for many years spent a ton of money over that time and always loved the cool items i could find, many of which still occupy my home, always at decent prices, but due to recent and ongoing price hikes on DONATED items I am cutting ties with the hope center for the foreseeable future,, hopefully these horrific price hikes and stagnant inventory caused by them will come Back down to earth in the future. goodwill hasn't hiked their prices this high, yeah they are a chain store that has some larger infrastructure to help with that, but these huge increases are nothing more than greed and bad management
priced lower= sell more, keep foot traffic Priced higher= pricing out customers We are all struggling, don't kick away the people that...
