We were very disappointed in our stay at this Best Western and will not be staying there again. The entire experience left us with a very bad taste.||1. The price was outrageous. We paid almost $300 for a single night and used an insane amount of our Best Western points for the second night. The normal rate is somewhere around $125 but this hotel jacks up their prices during every Parents' Weekend. Even if you try to book a year in advance, the prices are through the roof and they require you to PREPAY the entire amount. It is only refundable if you cancel THIRTY DAYS prior to your stay. There is no option to book a room without 100% prepayment for any parents' weekends or other university events. I find this practice unscrupulous and greedy. People's plans change, which is why most hotel bookings have 24-72 hour cancellation policies available. But not this one. It's 30 days or they keep all your money.||2. During check-in, there were issues with finding our reservation, and it took some extra time, but we thought everything was okay. Also, make note that check-in isn't until 4:00, which is also a bit of an inconvenience, since many hotels have 3:00 check-in times. Upon checking out, however, our statement showed an extra forty dollar charge that the clerk had no idea what it was for. My husband tried to get to the bottom of it, but all he got was that they acknowledged the error and assured us that it would come off our card in a few days. Time will tell on that one, but if it doesn't come off, we will have to take more time to get it resolved. ||3. The "hot" tub. We specifically booked this hotel (over an Airbnb) because we wanted to have access to a pool and hot tub at the end of the day. The pool area closes fairly early (at 10 pm), but we were able to squeeze in a few minutes each night during our stay. The pool was way too cold, so we opted for the "hot" tub, or rather the lukewarm tub. It was the worst hot tub I have ever sat in. I was shivering the whole time because the water was so uncomfortably chilly. The temperature was about like a bathtub after 30 minutes. Very unpleasant. Too cheap to pay for the gas or electricity to provide your over-paying guests a heated hot tub? Another massive disappointment, especially given the price we paid. ||4. On our second night, we visited the bar inside the hotel. We each ordered a single drink. There were approximately 4 customers (including us) in the bar. It took the staff (one server/waitress and one bartender) about 20 minutes to get our two drinks to us. We were literally the ONLY people at a table - there were two other people sitting at the actual bar. Another disappointing experience at this hotel.||5. The rooms. For almost $300/night, you'd expect a pretty nice room in a small town where average hotel rates are probably right around $100/night. You'd be wrong. For starters, when we checked into our room there was a fruit cup and bowl of food in the fridge, presumably left by previous guests. The stainless-steel plate that houses the lamps between the beds had multiple handprints and smudges all over it (looked to be children's handprints). It's clear that not a lot of time was spent cleaning the room. The room itself was pretty outdated and not in the best of the condition, particularly the bathroom. The metal plug for the bathtub was just sitting loose in the bottom of the tub unattached to the drain, so I assume it was broken and probably didn't work (no one took a bath, so we don't know). Overall, the room was adequate, although small and not especially clean. Definitely not what you'd expect for almost $300/night.||6. In the morning, the maids started knocking on our door about 30-35 minutes prior to check-out. I had just gotten out of the shower and had to go to the door to tell them we were still in there (which presumably they should have known since we had not checked out). Check-out time is at 11:00 am. They knocked again around 10:45, and we yelled through the door that we were still there. At 11:00, I was finishing up getting our bags to the door, when our room phone rang. I didn't answer, but it was clearly the front desk again making sure we were headed out. I also received a text on my phone at 11:04 reminding us to check-out, while my husband was at the front desk waiting in line to check out! Talk about insane. Seriously so annoying when we are trying to get ready and packed up to leave - they don't need to keep bugging us every ten minutes! What a terrible way to treat paying guests. Stop the harassment already.||I do not recommend this hotel at all. It is evident that this location is primarily focused on maximizing profits. They cut corners in every way possible, and it shows in the quality of the rooms, the maintenance of the rooms, the amenities, and the service. The only positive thing I can say about the hotel is that their breakfast was actually decent. They had many options and the workers in the breakfast room were friendly and helpful. Beyond that, this hotel was nothing but a...
Read moreCANCELED RESERVATION! I've been staying at the University Inn for nearly 25 years. I had a reservation earlier this week- guaranteed by our travel agency. With a convention in town, they said it was their policy to call reservation holders and verify credit card for guarantee when they are full to capacity. Our travel agency is in Quebec Canada. They said they called and couldn't get through. Then they said they called and a VM answered in French. Of course....they have a prompt for English! Open 24 hours a day! So because they could verify the card the morning of the guaranteed reservation, they canceled my and a Senior Executive's reservation I was traveling with. I am on file with them and when I asked them to look me up, they said we have several contacts the same as my name....THEY WERE ALL MY CONTACT INFORMATION ON EACH!! So, I'm traveling with a senior executive of my company, no hotel room, the first we tried after was booked. The hotel near them we walked into....booked. We wound up getting a room at the Holiday Inn Express in Pullman...two of the last 3!! At a higher rate. My customer that I've seen all these years used to refer them for all of their events bringing people into town. NO MORE. The real truth of the matter I feel was simple. They were overbooked and we did not make the cut because they could not reach us to charge our card. ON A GUARANTEED RESERVATION!!!! I do not recommend their hotel and will never stay...
