My mom has to attend here to get check ups because her doctor moved to this location from the Penn State Health St. Joseph Downtown Campus location. She has tried to get in contact with this Muhlenberg location for weeks to schedule an appointment or to be seen by a doctor when she is in severe pain from her sciatica and arthritis. They never pick up the phone, just a automatic voice saying to leave a message with your info and they'll get back to you. My mom doesn't speak English that well so she leaves her messages in Spanish and no one gets back to her, we know they have an interpreter because one answered her the very first time she called months ago so I don't know if they don't have one now. Earlier this week on April 3, 2023 she went in person to see what is going on and she told me the two secretaries who were there that day, both young white women, where rude to her and were making snide comments, rolling their eyes, and making faces at her because of her poor English and how she was asking for an interpreter and they wouldn't provide one for her or attend to my mom's concerns of scheduling an appointment or to see a doctor immediately because she was in severe pain from her sciatica issue. Luckily an older nurse saw what was happening and attended to my mom and provided a interpreter through video call. But I find it very concerning that you have two secretaries who are rude, cold, racist, and malicious working your office. I also suspect they are erasing voice messages left by Hispanic patients and not telling the office about who is calling to schedule an appointment or needs to see a doctor and turning away people who come in person simply because they...
Read moreMy blood pressure was spiking. It took me 2 months to get an appointment, and when I showed up they told me there was no doctor there and I had to come back in May. There was zero concern for my health, and I was denied medical care and was unallowed to speak to any qualified medical professional, only the secretaries. Immediately, when I became upset, I was met with excuses and the passing of blame. I'm autistic, and they told me to calm down and acted like I was being unreasonable, which caused me to have a panic attack and they watched me leave and drive away with my baby. No concern for care at all, and I am in the process of filling complaints with the department of health, as well as filing suit. The only way to get medical care there would have been for me to have a heart attack in the office so they could call me an ambulance and charge me for a hospital stay. The entire system is about scheduling appointments and taking whatever payday the insurance will give them. We need a return to real care. This place discriminated against me for being a large, loud, mentally ill white person. I'm not proud of my subsequent outburst, but when the burden of patience is on the patient and not caregivers, the world has gone to pot.
UPDATE: Today I call from them where they explained to me that it wasn't their fault... I assume in response to the complaints filed. I told her I don't need excuses, i need a doctor, and then hung up, more frustrated. This...
Read moreI arrived just before 3:45 and the dr wasn't set to arrive for another 15 minutes, so they would not start checking people in until then. There were literally 2 people before me at the time. 4 o'clock came, and it still took several minutes for them to call the first person up to register. My kids, ages 4 and 1, we're playing around our seats, giggling, but being well behaved. After a few minutes, one of the receptionists scolded me and asked me to hold my children or sit them down. Again, there were only 2 other people in the waiting room, and neither of them seemed bothered by my kids entertaining themselves. I'm sure any parent would agree that that is preferable to making them sit to get antsy or cry that they aren't allowed up. I finally got called up to register, and then was seated for another hour before we finally got calied back. At this point there were 3 more people that came in after me. Another gentleman came in and the receptionist told him it would be an hour and a half wait, and that they were "very busy" tonight. I'd hate to see what the wait would be if the waiting room was full, when it's that long with only 4 people still waiting. Once we finally got called back, the nurse was wonderful and the dr came in maybe 2 minutes after the nurse walked out, and the dr was very nice and our visit was quick. But then I waited another 15 minutes just to receive the prescription print outs. Overall, I was very unimpressed and will not be going...
