It’s incredibly frustrating when a stylist hasn’t a clue how to cut a basic layered haircut on long hair. I originally had a long blunt haircut, halfway down my back. Melissa was able to cut a straight line. Was going to her for a few years. Same blunt cut. She shampooed and cut. I always left her chair with wet hair… my choice. The cut took no more than 5 minutes. Literally. I was tired of paying $70 plus tip for my very basic service so I tried a new stylist that only charged $40. It was crooked so I went back to Melissa. Melissa changed my cost to $50 (I did not ask her to do that) which I appreciated. I also tip! Last Nov I had Melissa cut layers. I left with it wet and threw it in a ponytail. The next morning I was on a flight to visit my kids when I became aware of how she cut it so I couldn’t have her fix it. I wasn’t sure at that point if I could trust in her ability anyway. She misunderstood my request for basic increased layers??? Like most people wear with long hair. Not rocket science. Like Haircutting 101. I ended up with diagonal forward layers. No layering around my face but the back was layered. I decided to try Ashlynn today. I am in such disbelief that she did the same thing as Melissa only much shorter layers. She even asked me what I didn’t like about my last cut. I specifically stated the diagonal layering. I have about 3” of layering near my face but the back has closer to 5-6” of layering. I did watch her cut and asked if she’d hold it straight up to a guide on the top of my head. I even showed her but she did her thing. I chose not to intervene anymore when her friendliness changed and she said “yes ma’am”. I knew she was frustrated too. I went through it when I got home after drying and straightening it. It is so uneven and the interior layers are much longer on the right side. It’s a shame how much they charge for the skill level they have. Skills you’d expect at Great Clips. I am a retired hairdresser and salon owner from a different state. When my stylists came to me for a job I required them to bring 2 models to show me their ability. I would not have hired any of the 3 stylists I’ve had...
Read moreIf you are a new guest here, do your due diligence on what stylist they try to assign you. I called in and asked for a blonde specialist that knew how to do blonde really well. Come to find out they assigned me to a brand new stylist with only a few months of experience. I went in and asked for a routine blonding appointment. I wanted to be lighter, brighter, and highlight my roots that had grown in. Somehow, she turned me into a dark brunette. The first photo is my hair right before I went in, and the second photo I took right when I got home from the appointment (and yes she made me leave with wet hair because she said she ran out of time to blow dry me). To the salon’s credit, I called in and told them I was unhappy with the result and they had me come back in to fix it. They put me back with the same girl who did a detox shampoo on it, but it still has left my hair way too dark, dingy, and no where near what it was (third photo). I am having to go to another salon in town for a color correction and just praying that this has not compromised the integrity of my hair. I’m in shock that this was my experience at a professional salon.
I’m adding a star because the salon is beautiful, and everyone in there is super nice and friendly. I would have been thrilled to call this my new salon, but sadly it was just a really bad experience for me personally. Based on all the great reviews it seems they have a lot of happy customers, so I’m sure if you find the right stylist for you here you’d love it. Sadly, it did not work out for me though. I hope this review saves someone from the expense and hassle that I’m having to go through to get...
Read moreWorst salon experience I’ve ever had. Went in for a brow wax and hair dye. I’ve never been so poorly treated. My stylist Imani has no concept of good customer service. Talking down to customers, arguing with them when they do not know as much as you do about hair dying is NOT a consultation. Yet this is exactly what I received.
I was so frustrated I almost left and when I expressed this she said she would then speak to her manager. I got up and watched her do so and then when she finished she walked right by me without saying a thing. In fact nobody said anything to me. When I questioned her, she said everything was okay and i could leave. So you were speaking to your supervisor to get permission for me to leave? Excuse me?!?!
So round two of arguing began and after about 5 minutes the supervisor finally came over. I explained the frustration that I was dealing with the stylist and that all I wanted was to get my hair dyed before vacation. At this point I was in tears. In the end he was able to smooth things over enough for to at least get a color picked out. No apology was made or anything. After picking out the color both the supervisor and Imani walked away without saying anything to me. No apology was ever made by either of them. After this, I spent the majority of the service either not being spoken to be or simply just left to sit there in silence by myself.
This is NOT the level of service that I expect from a salon. To be treated this way without ever even receiving an apology from anyone is beyond disappointing. This was my first visit and I certainly wouldn’t recommend it to even my worst enemy nor...
