I'm a skinnier guy and needed some dress pants for a new job I'm starting soon. I went to the Sugar House Men's Wearhouse location first and was helped by a young man who was friendly, kind, helpful, etc. We found an extra slim pair of suit pants that fit great but unfortunately they only had one pair left and I needed at least 1 or 2 more pairs. I left that young man a great google review. I then went online and saw that the Fashion Place location had some in stock so I placed an online order for instore pick up. I did this rather than shipping to my house for two reasons. 1) to avoid shipping costs to my house and 2) so that I could try on one specific brand, specific fit, and specific size of "extra slim" dress shirt. It was my day off, so I was in gym shorts and a white t-shirt so you could see tattoos on my arms. Right away, I felt like they looked at me strange (my girlfriend who accompanied me also confirmed this once we left the store). Lots of staring as if we were going to steal something despite the fact I had already paid for pants I was there to pick up. Right away I let them know I was there to pick up an online order, but that I also wanted to try on a specific dress shirt, fit, and size that I saw online, regardless of the color, so that I knew if it fit I could order them online in the future. Being skinny, "slim fits" often aren't slim enough, hence me wanting to try on the specific "extra slim" dress shirt. I told them I felt bad unfolding a dress shirt, and they surely didn't want me to either. In fact, rather than allowing me to try on the dress shirt in the specific brand, fit, and size 15/32-33, the man working there got some other unrelated brand button-down with a "small" or "medium" size (not an actual 15/32-33 nor an actual "extra slim fit" like the one I wanted to try on) and said "this would fit the same." Maybe he was 100% right, maybe he was 100% wrong, but that isn't the point. These men definitely weren't rude or mean, but they were definitely judgmental and definitely were not as helpful as they could have been. It was clear they cared more about having to refold a dress shirt than helping someone or making a sale. In fact, I felt more trusted at my previous employer overseeing over $300 million in investments that I did in this store with $30-40 dress shirts. The older men at this store could use some customer service lessons and even life lessons (don't judge a book, or a person, by the cover) from the young man at the Sugar House store. I will never return to this location and will gladly pay extra shipping costs to avoid it...
Read moreHorrible experience, I’m getting married and me and my fiancée went to see what color options they had and were helped by Rich. He completely said what I wanted was unrealistic and that I needed to settle for more quote on quote “realistic colors” and what I want on my mind and what is there are 2 different things and preceded to show us colors that had nothing to do with what I wanted. And when it seemed like I wasn’t gonna buy anything, he completely excused himself to help other customers as if he didn’t want to deal with it. I will definitely be taking my business elsewhere and not be returning to this business. If your generic and bland with colors this is the place for you, but if your someone wanting to add color to your wedding it’s unrealistic according to them, so don’t waste your breath and money.
UPDATE: After a few months had gone by, we decided to go back to look at options for my groomsmen and best man. I had my brother and my fiancées brother come to be our models to see how the colors fit. We came in, no one greeted us and after a bit, a woman approached us, and you can tell she didn’t wanna be there and had some attitude behind her, she asked what we needed and we said oh we’re just trying to try and look how the colors looked for the wedding. She made some snarky toned joke saying we should go somewhere else. A little confused I brushed it off. So we’re browsing to see what colors they had, whenever we asked a question it was always an attitude like if we’re bothering her and when another customer came in to get fitted and sized for a suit, she decided to help him out and just leave me and my group and just completely disappeared from us. It was only when a blonde long haired dude (didn’t catch his name) that came out of nowhere and made us feel welcomed and checked on us every few minutes just to see how we were doing. He’s the only reason that I set up an account for my groomsmen to pick up the stuff we want them to wear cause unlike previously from rich and now this woman, he actually made it so we got what we needed. I swear first km getting condescended and now I’m just not feeling welcomed. I’m glad I got what I needed because after a second inexcusable behavior from someone else, I’ll definitely not be stepping in that location and will just drive the extra 10 mins to the sandy location cause this is unacceptable...
Read moreDO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM HERE! Absolute worst experience ever. From the first time coming to the store it was very clear that we were not of priority you had to ask for help, we were in the store for literally 2-3 hours getting everything picked out for a custom suit including the jacket, vest, pants, and shoes.. the process took forever, but it seemed as though we were going to have a beautiful suit for our wedding so we stayed patient. 1st mistake. I advised for them to call my number as my fiancé cannot answer the phone while he is working.. they called him multiple times while he was at work to let him know the suit was there. So, okay we went in and had alterations done. Today we went in at 8:20 pm to pick everything up.. to our surprise there’s NO VEST.. the man helping us told us that the sales man that helped us (Andrew) never ordered our vest so we are out of luck and we could choose a vest off of the rack and pay for it... our suit is a CUSTOM SUIT.. those vests do not match... so he went on to tell us that he couldn’t do anything about it and considering that our wedding is in less than 9 days we wouldn’t get the custom vest.. no sorry no nothing.. obviously I’m upset at this point and trying to figure out what can be done.. and he has the AUDACITY to blame China for not sending the vest... excuse me? How is that even a thing if the salesman didn’t order it? We paid $630 for a jacket a pair of pants and shoes? Are you kidding me? Worst customer service I will never be coming back, we will go to your competitor this weekend and hope they can fix the mess you made... I will make sure to mention my experience to anyone looking for a suit/tuxedo. I would like to speak with corporate. The man at the store gave me some bogus number and said it was for corporate.. I already called it was...
