We purchased three recliners yesterday, two upholstered in o e fabric for one room, and a third recliner in a different fabric for another room. We came into the Lazyboy stores three days earlier thinking we wanted to look at sectionals or sofas with reclining seats. We spent no money but worked with Carla for several hours, with her showing us anything she thought might be what we wanted. She was kind and helpful, and made no attempt to pressure us into buying anything. She did however take us first to a furniture group which included a sofa, a two person loveseat and a recliner. They were all electric and reclined, I believe the Cadillac of recliners. These came with remote controls situated in the side of each piece, but each piece also had controls built in. They each had four types of built in reclining mechanisms - for your feet and legs, for your back, a control for the back lumbar region and the 4th I don't remember what it was for. We left after a couple of hours of trying all different sorts of recliners in different configurations. I was concerned about the cost as these seating pieces were much more expensive than I was comfortable with. However, our daughters convinced me we should buy these very, very comfortable and adaptable seats, and we should select recliners rather than loveseats. They felt recliners were more flexible in how and where they could be used. We retuned to the store again yesterday and again worked with Carla. She helped us choose fabrics which we hope will work well with the current sofa & live seat in the living room, and another fabric which will work with the current color scheme in another room. There was a sale on $300 off each $1000, which I guess helped but not a lot. I had to pay half on this custom order, and I had to pay $199 for delivery. I do think the delivery fee is quite excessive when you are paying many thousands of dollars, and I certainly wish I'd been able to take advantage of the promotion mentioned by an earlier reviewer who got free delivery. And based on the posted photos, her order for two recliners, on a push back chair, cost much less than my order. I think Lazyboy should rethink charging a delivery fee for local deliveries. Since my chairs won't be ready for at least 6 weeks, perhaps longer, I have no...
Read moreMy wife and I began searching for replacing 20+ years old quality NC manufacturers sofa. We wanted high quality leather and sound construction with power recliner seats that will last us a long time. After visiting other furniture stores in 100 mile radius, including other La-Z-Boy stores, we went to La-Z-Boy at Myrtle Beach. We encountered attentive staff but were given plenty of alone time to sit, compare, try, and search available sofas. Questions were answered efficiently and explanations given for differences of feel, style, and price. Sticker shock was a concern, but after sales discounts were applied and some inquiries about possible groupings discounts, anxiety somewhat subsided. We left the first visit to consider what we had found. Back home, we researched our findings and determined the cost. Our conclusion was that made in America, quality, expected longevity of materials won out over other furniture. So we returned to La-Z-Boy with narrowed choices and to consider not only a sofa, but a grouping so we could have matching sofa, love seat and recliner. Jeff and Mary, sales people, recognized us and worked with us to alleviate our concerns and questions. Again we were given lots of time to try out our choice. A dealing episode took place and we even haggled on price and interest free financing. Questions to corporate manager and finance made us feel like being in a vehicle dealership. Finally after comparing our figures we arrived at an acceptable price. What a team! Quite a deal! Paperwork was efficient and painless, and since all our choice pieces were not in the warehouse, delivery is expected as soon as possible. We feel that we are getting the quality furniture we want from a longlived American company with well trained employees who make one...
Read moreWe ordered a custom sofa from the Myrtle Beach La-Z-Boy store in May 2023. The sofa was delivered in June and the delivery staff would not unload, as they noticed it was damaged. I refused delivery. The store manager told me it would be fixed. They delivered again on July and it was the same damaged sofa. The store manager told me they would order a new one and to keep the damaged one until the new one was received. The new sofa was delivered in September and was damaged as well and we refused delivery. The store manager offered a discount and that La-Z-Boy would send a technician to repair. We agreed. We were contacted by the service department, who asked us to take the sofa to a local upholstery cleaner and they would compensate us. When I contacted the manager, and told him we wanted a sofa that met the standards of a new, custom order piece he told us they would not order another sofa for us so my options were to have them pick up the sofa and refund or have it serviced. When I stated that them to come service and clean, as there are stains and structural damage, he stated that a professional cleaner would be better than their technicians. That much for the warranty and coverage we paid. Now the manager says they may order a new sofa for us and he will advise us on the final decision, as if we were asking for a favor. This has been the worst purchasing and customer service experience of my life, and hope this review may...
