Fex Upholstery — Local services in Napa

I’m an Interior Designer and used Pollins Upholstery for years. I miss them! Fex is awful! No one speaks English and they make mistakes left and right. I ordered banquette cushions from them for a winery in St Helena and half of the dimensions were wrong. Then I drop off my own kitchen dining chairs. I specifically tell them I don’t want new insert cushions. He uses new insert cushions without me asking. Then the cushions don’t fit on the chairs. So he tells me to bring the chairs in and he will fit the cushions on. I don’t want to do this as the shop is small and I just had the chairs professionally painted and I’m worried they will get knicked. Against my better judgement I bring the chairs in. When I go to pick them up. Guess what? Three giant nicks in the paint! I’m done with them. On to find a new upholsterer who knows how to...

I brought in my truck bench seat for re-upholstery. An employee gave me a written estimate for $600; she said it was for $500 labor and probably about $60 for materials. When I went to pick it up, the total was $800. The explanation for the difference was "all new foam" on the bottom portion of the seat. I had given them a large piece of foam which they said they used in the back of the seat. The workmanship looks pretty good, but I was shocked that the price suddenly bounced up $200 just for foam. I think they should've called me with an updated estimate before doing the job. If you use this company, be sure to nail them down to an out-the-door price. Fex Upholstery has given me quite a bit of time in figuring out how to reupholster a leather chair. Orvin has responded within minutes of each of my texts. He has been professional and kind. He answered all my questions and even offered to go with me to the leather store to match the leather if the chair. I am waiting for my daughter to bring the chair from her town. We will definitely ask Orvin to re-upholster the chair when my daughter is able to bring it. I am completely satisfied with Orvin and Fex...
