apologies for the long review. i promise it is only to help with your apartment search. and to get my voice in what i feel was a horrible experience.
i moved in summer of 2023 - it was great. rent was high. it’s nashville, checks out. whatever. lived there and had no problems. then got a parking boot in the parking garage i payed to get a sticker for my vehicle to park in… makes sense. disputed the boot - got told i had to pay the $75. whatever. got a lease renewal in march, rent was raised $300…. whatever.
fast forward to june 2024. my boyfriend moved in with me. he applied online, got approved. filled out the paperwork. signed the lease. we were told he was all set to move in so we told the office when he would be moving in. show up on the day he was moving, asked about getting his keys and the woman at the desk looked at us like we had six heads. i thought okay maybe it was a mistake. she gave us instructions for what to do next and told us we’d have his keys by monday (it was saturday). monday rolls around, no keys. saturday. no keys. another week. two weeks. THREE WEEKS! he lived here for three weeks with me and our roommate - was on our resident portal for PAYING RENT TO THESE PEOPLE and had no keys. they also refused to give him a parking permit to park his vehicle in their garage (that he already had paid for a permit for…) so he had to park it on the street for THREE WEEKS.
we moved out when our lease was up and were waiting to hear back from our new property management place. they had been in touch with us once and then i got a call from our new property manager saying she had been sending a rental verification to WEV a week previously. they had not filled it out or sent it back. the only thing holding us back from getting our new rental lease was WEV management letting things fall through the cracks. our new property manager emailed them FIVE TIMES. nothing got done until i called twice and finally got ahold of David in the office. he told me the paperwork would only take five minutes. they let this go for almost 2 weeks over something that only takes five minutes to complete.
like i said for the longest time there were no issues. it’s sad because it is a nice little complex and the neighbors are great. the cleaning and maintenance team are incredible and Yuvette is so amazing and loves the residents. never had any issues with anything until 2024. things were just constantly getting brushed over, and it seemed like everything got stuck when we talked to the front desk and never got handed off to a manger when it needed to be. i can’t even justify the price for high quality property management because it seems like they don’t know anything going on in the building until you call and ask why something hasn’t been done. and that’s only when you get lucky enough to get someone on the phone!! if you want to overpay for what you get go for it. but just know WEV lets things get overlooked and WILL pocket as much money as they...
Read moreI just moved out of WEV, here was my experience:
Great area, convenient being close to centennial. However, it was super busy streets and not very safe to be walking. My friends and I would get catcalled the second we stepped out of the building (this happened on a consistent basis). I would not feel safe walking from an Uber into the building. Garrielle and Yvette are awesome, they are incredible and really care about the residents. I personally did not like the enclosed pool because there was only about 2 hours of partial sunlight through the days & there is no privacy in your apartment when you face the pools. The parking situation is bad. There are two floors, however, the top gate by building B rarely ever works, forcing everyone to fight for spots on the first floor. Given the fact that I did not feel safe at night and was not comfortable walking in by myself, I parked in the corner of the garage. The manager called me down and demanded that I must pay $200 for a "broken gate" when my car #1 was not near the gate, #2 they had NO proof that my car had any kind of possible impact. #3 there were no signs or lines saying that I could not park there and there were lines that I could. I tried to talk to her about this and she continued to tell me that everyone in this building is very mad at me. After that, I tried to go above her, they just charged my account and did not respond. That was SUPER frustrating. They will get every possible dime they can out of you no matter what. There is also always construction by the pool so it is super loud in the building Maintenance staff is super quick with their services which is very convenient when you have any issues The apartments themselves are really good quality...

Parking:
I received a faulty parking garage sticker from the complex that fell off no less than 6 times the first 18 days in the complex. My legally parked vehicle was booted because the parking sticker fell off AGAIN and wasn't visible to the company that West End Village uses to prey on their residents in the parking structure. Despite having all my vehicle registration information Nashville Booting advised me that 'West End Village doesn't care if your vehicle is registered they just want us to boot anything that doesn't have a sticker.' Incredibly convenient considering that the stickers they issue won't stay attached. Manager Kristen Sparkman was of absolutely zero help and refused to reimburse me for the cost of the Lyft to and from work on the affected days.
Apartment:
My apartment had massive amounts of damage to the floor upon moving in, an embarrassing amount even. The stove top was completely ruined by a previous tenant and as a result I haven't been able to use it once for fear of furthering the damage. The toilet has slowly leaked since I moved in and is quite disgusting. The thermostat is a "smart" thermostat that is almost completely unusable. I'm not sure if they have restrictions on it, or what, but it is nearly impossible to have it set to a comfortable temperature. The shower has to be on the absolute max heat to even have the water a usable temperature. The upkeep on the building is substandard to say the least.
Location:
Good location except for parking, luckily there is a parking garage... Except they'll boot your vehicle when their faulty stickers fall off your windshield and refuse to do anything to assist you with...
