Laura's Candies — Local services in New Orleans

I was in NOLA for vacation last week, and stopped in on Tuesday to buy pralines to take home as gifts. I bought 2 boxes of 6 ea. One box of traditional pralines, and the other box had 3 rum and 3 chocolate. Packed them in my checked luggage, wrapped in plastic bags.

When I got home and opened them, the box of rum and chocolate pralines was crawling with teeny bugs! The other box was just fine. There were no insects anywhere in my luggage, just all inside the box of mixed pralines. It still makes my skin crawl to think of it. And then I had to throw them all away because I couldn't risk the other box either. Heartbreaking that I didn't get my pralines nor my gifts.

I'm still giving 3 stars because the pralines we bought and ate right away were delicious. I have no idea if they had bugs in them but none...

Seriously I eat a LOT of Caramel's and these are absolutely some of the best I've ever had...the caramel is just so rich, chewy and sweet...the chocolate adds a decadent touch...I promise you will smash at least 3 or 4 right away, so buy extra.

Also the Chocolate Turtles are off the charts good...oh and they gots them Pralines, yeah I said Pralines! They're made fresh daily and and they got mad Willy Wonka style flavor selections!! This is the kinda place you would never want to visit high AF, I mean seriously they dip Oreos in Chocolate...they have peanut butter balls and some Caramel Nut Chocolategasm thing called Mississippi Mud...make it stop. it's just so good. get me outa here...I'm buying...

Wish it was possible to leave zero stars. What an unbelievable experience I had at this store-I feel compelled to share.

I purchased several boxes of prepared pralines. A few minutes after leaving the store; I received a charge for $20 more than I authorized.

When I went back to the store a few minutes later to address the extra charge, I was told that I “left a tip.” I explained I most certainly DID NOT authorize any tip. I was told by the staff person that all sales are final and she refused to refund me the tip amount.

Never did I suspect a retail store would add a bogus unauthorized charge onto my sale after I left the store. Wondering how many other customers they have...
