NYC is amazing for its transit system. It’s the people who trash up the stations w litter and writing and gum on floors. So the system is 5 but the stations like this are impossible to keep nice unless the community respects the station. Some of the NYC police are around sometimes to keep safety and the guard rails near the platforms are totally new for maybe summertime 2025. It’s good to have in case people get pushed by psychopaths and criminals who just lurk to harm in innocent and hard working people and need something to hold onto. It happens so please don’t stand even near the guards. I would not do it. Otherwise NYc has one of the more efficient subway systems in the world due to the reach and speed for just $2.90 per ride and remember that within 2 hours you get a free transfer as long as it’s a train to bus or bus to train. And the best part about this station is that it is a direct connect by walking one block to the M 60 bus, which will be a free transfer within the two hours if you take the train to LaGuardia airport.

One of my favorite subway stations! Has enough characters to keep it interesting but not too many that it becomes uncomfortable. Positive vibes, The MTA clerks are usually very helpful. Nice photography located throughout the station. Generally clean and well maintained but old and could use a remodel. And check out the lightbulbs! The MTA has done a spectacular job in redoing all the lightbulbs over the past couple of years, many of the light bulbs have been replaced by the mta @mtahow many light bulbs are there throughout the MTA vicinity? TIP The MTA is handing out masks free of charge TIP:Watch if you are trying to jump the turnstiles as police seem to be stopping folks. Just ask and most likely they will let you through.

Google Maps tells handicap that the entrance is at 127 & St Nicholas. This is incorrect. You must go to 125th and St Nicholas for the elevator. Elevator is on the SW side of the intersection. This elevator is often out of service. Be prepared to switch to a bus route.

If you are already in the station and trying to surface, 59th St Columbus Circle is the closest reliable stop. The M7 or M10 buses will bring you back...
