TL;DR: This shop has a great variety and lovely staff who really try to cater to your asks. Highly recommend, and can't wait to go back! I found this shop through searching online trying to find a cheese place near me, and it didn't disappoint. One of the staff had set up a table right outside and was giving anyone who stopped by samples of four cheeses they had set up, no matter what they looked like. The sample of comté convinced me, and I gave them a task of creating a cheeseboard for my friend's party under $50. Now, this is a fine cheese shop, their wares are on the higher end, so we did blow my budget a little. However, they did give me a walk in discount (perhaps to prevent me from being miffed as well?) and three cheeses to wow my friends, an aged gouda, a comté, and a camembert. (I opted for more hard cheeses because I don't like soft cheese, so dealer's choice.) My friends found these selections as interesting as I did, where the gouda had crystals like parmesan and the comté and camembert had interesting funky flavors. I ended up having enough to then bring to a small family gathering, and leftovers to enjoy through the rest of the holidays. This shop will give you warm fuzzy vibes, from how friendly and transparent the staff are, to the superb quality and uniqueness of the cheeses. I'm on a tight budget, but I can't...
Read moreI cannot say enough wonderful things about 67 Gourmet. My husband and I visited on Sunday and were welcomed with a lovely cheese tasting setup outside by Jonathan. He was very friendly and gave every visitor their full attention and educated each of us too (in a friendly passionate way, not condescending!) You can tell Jonathan & Mark truly do this for the passion and there seemed to be a steady flow of loyal and curious patrons coming in and out.
67 Gourmet foods is one of the reasons people love coming to New York & UWS - a small business with owners who truly care and are passionate subject matter experts. I can’t recommend them enough and can’t wait to return!
FYI we bought the Brabander Goat Gouda - one of the cheeses from the cheese tasting table and absolutely love it! Reasonably...
Read moreEnticed by the entrancing word appearing periodically on a TV screen visible from the street, my frenchness made me enter this simple looking store. My pulse quickened and my mouth watered at the thought of a cheese sampling wonderland, so far away from the country of non pasteurised fromage. I was welcomed by a person with a passion for the fine things in life, mostly cheese (one of the most noble ones). And the sampling quickly convinced me that an expert had selected this products. I cannot finish this review without mentionning my tasting of a camembert, which was indeed perfect, only to discover it had been imported from La Ferme du Tremblaye, a farm only a few kilometers away from my house, a wonderfully tasty surprise.
I will come back to nyc, and when I do, THIS place will be my...
