If you're in the mood for a ripper culinary experience, don't look past the New York Sandwich Tour with none other than Ben, the Aussie sandwich aficionado. Let me tell ya, this tour had me saying "Crikey!" at every mouthwatering bite and belly laugh.
First things first, the sandwiches! Oh my bloomin' onions, they were the bee's knees! We sampled 3 different takes on the "sandwich", but the highlight was the pho sandwich. Yeah, you heard that right cobber – pho in a sandwich! Ben introduced us to this out-of-this-world fusion and my taste buds went bonkers.
Now, let's talk about Ben himself. This bloke was an absolute legend! Not only did he know his sandwiches inside out, but he's got that Aussie charm and it shines through in his storytelling. And let me tell ya, he didn't just entertain us, he also educated us. Ben's knowledge of the city's food scene was spot-on, and he shared interesting tidbits about each neighbourhood we visited.
To sum it all up, the tour with Ben was an absolute ripper of an experience. From the unforgettable pho sandwich to Ben's witty commentary and infectious energy, this tour had it all. So, if you're looking for a unique NYC experience that will tickle your taste buds and leave you grinning like a possum, don't pass up the chance to join Ben on his culinary escapades. Fair dinkum, you...
Read moreCame to NYC with family for a few days and this was definitely one of our favorite activities! Ben was personable, funny and VERY knowledgable about not only sandwiches, but also NYC and its history. We stopped at three different places in the East Village and each had a different take on what makes a good sandwich. ALL were amazing. Drinks are not included in the tour price, but were readily available for purchase. Some of the sandwich shops were quite small, but we were able to eat our sandwiches at local watering holes with a bit more room, which also afforded us the opportunity to enjoy some adult beverages (not included in the price of the tour, but a nice complement to some tasty sammies nonetheless).
The tour fit in nicely between our morning walking the High Line and checking out Little Island, Chelsea Market, Magnolia Bakery, Washington Square and The Strand bookstore, and our afternoon at the 9/11 memorial.
One suggestion: plan a long walk after the sammies and beers - you'll feel less guilty about indulging!
This is definitely an...
Read moreThe tour was awesome! Here are 3 reasons why I had a blast: Our tour guide did a great job at creating an experience that ticked all the boxes, including (importantly), great food, cool part of NYC, fun and inclusive atmosphere, informative, and a nice balance between eating/walking/laughing/and drinking (if you wanted to have an alcoholic beverage it was available). The sandwiches were delicious and varied! whilst I was expecting them to be delicious, I was pleasantly surprised on the variety.. each sandwich was very different from the last and fit quite well into the narrative and history that we were exploring, which was a nice touch. The amount of food was plenty. I'm a big guy and was a little worried that I wouldn't be full at the end of the tour. No need to worry about that... and no need to over eat at any stop because of that worry either...!
If you were intrigued by any of the above, you're going to have a...
