A couple of days ago, I faced off against the Alamo Cube, Astor Place's very own urban challenge. Spoiler alert: it's trickier than it looks! Initially, I met my match with this metallic titan, but thanks to a young local who could give Hercules a run for his money, I learned the ropes. Managed to coax a slight turn out of it, which I consider a triumph of will over metal. There's more of a plaza there now so you can buy coffees and snacks from the kiosks that are there and sit and do some of the best people watching in New York City.
