I have been going to Ace of Fades barbershop for a short time but I've been getting my haircut by Arthur from Ace of Fades barbershop for almost 10 years. I would highly recommend everyone give Arthur a try and let him cut your hair. I've had the dirt cheap cuts for $8.00 and they never came out great, ever and I've had very expensive cuts at places like Ouidad and Bumble & Bumble add those were really good cuts, however, for the price, quality of haircut and consistency of cut, nothing has compared to Arthur craft and skill cutting hair. Arthor at Ace of Fades barbershop is located at 128 8th Ave. He is open every day & can accommodate almost any schedule, he also makes last-minute appointments has a very respectful and courteous shop people wearing masks and he will fit you in for trim jobs as needed and if he isn't busy. He's been cutting my hair in Chelsea...

I literally just got off work and hadn’t booked an appointment. I work near 14th and 8th, where there’s a barbershop right around the block, but the vibe there felt too serious, and it was packed. Not really my scene. I decided to Google nearby spots and came across Ace of Fades on 17th Street.

When I got there, I scoped it out before heading in (I’m the type who overthinks and psychs myself out sometimes), but one of the guys waved me in — which I took as a sign. Right away, I could tell the vibe was chill and welcoming, not intimidating at all. Everyone was cool and friendly, which helped ease my nerves.

CJ was my barber, and he did an awesome job. Clean cut, attention to detail, and great energy overall. I’m definitely coming back for a follow-up. Highly recommend Ace of Fades if you want a quality cut in a laid-back,...

This place was pretty terrible. I arrived 5 minutes early for my appointment, and waited almost 20 minutes before I was seen. When I expressed, after 15 minutes, that I would no longer have time I was told I was up next and it would be very quick. During my haircut, the person who cut my hair helped ring up another customer, welcomed and discussed options with two people who walked in, and answered a call, all after I had already explained that I was very short on time. The person did not listen to anything I said, kept asking the same questions repeatedly, and ultimately gave me an awful haircut that was not at all what I asked for. Avoid this place, terrible experience top to bottom.

Update: adding my booking confirmation since they’ve decided to fight in the comments rather than fixing...

For me, it was a no-brainer to follow Arthur to his own shop from Rudy's Chelsea Garden's Barber Shop. The main reason is because Arthur consistently delivers me a stylish cut that flatters me. He does expert fades, 'shaved line/side parts,' beard trims and more. He knows when to cut the top and when to leave it grow until the next cut. My 51-year-old head of hair is healthy...but definitely thinner than when I was younger. Arthur's cuts make it look its fullest. Plus, his prices are fair and he's pleasant to spend time with. I recommend Arthur 100%

Hit this place when I was in town for the NYC Marathon. I believe my barber was Arthur (sorry if misspelled) and have him some latitude on the direction. My wife hasn't been so happy with a haircut and beard trim in years. I think that says it all. Photo is two days later after the marathon. Was a little disheveled but you get the idea! Would definitely recommend this place. Make sure you book ahead though!
