My Favorite Restaurant! I have been eating here for years and they remain a wonderful place to dine and socialize with friends and family. Over the years they have only gotten better, the staff make you feel at home, as a great Italian restaurant should! Welcoming and kind from the moment you step in and I really appreciate all the attention to detail, they want you to have a marvelous experience.
I recently ended up here on NYE a friend and I got together the last minute and thought where can we go, well I always suggest Chelsea Ristorante, but figured at the late hour and it being the Holiday that we would never get in. Well they were packed as would be expected but they were so lovely and generous they did not turn us away, they made a place for us and served us the most delicious meal. They could have easily said "sorry it's late we are full" as I had no reservation, but no they made it work.
The food is superior, I am Italian and grew up eating the best home made Italian food and I can tell you this is definitely fresh and expertly cooked! They have this great ambiance with a brick open in full view creating the most magnificent artisan pizzas you will ever have! Talk about New York at it's best. I have a special love for their seafood dishes and they are always cooked to perfection. Their baked clams are a must with me I mean literally I crave them if I go too long without them.
The owner and all the staff really make you feel like family and this is something that we see less and less of each day. Special places like this, especially in Chelsea, are very rare with banks taking over every corner. I am so glad this place has stayed around so long and you can only do that if you are serving quality food in a great locations with excellent service. They've got it all. So I would say to anyone and often do, try this place you will...
Read moreI’m from Boston and went on a trip to NYC, really wanted a nice place to go with my girlfriend. When i entered one of that looks like a manager mentioned about reservations, and did us a favor having a table for two but we would have to leave around 7 PM (it was around 5:50 PM) So we took a seat and ordered our food at around 6:06 PM after one the waitress basically FORCING us to order quick (as if we were getting it free) we got our food at exactly 6:20 PM, at 6:29 PM my girlfriend finished her plate but i haven’t finished mine because it had been only 9 minutes, at 6:30 a waitress came to my table is asked if i was “all set” so i said yes, thinking that he was asking if i wanted to ordered something else, but i was all set. Out of a sudden 2 waitresses PICKED UP ALL OUR FOOD, DRINKS AND ALMOST TOOK MY PLATE THAT I HAVENT EVEN FINISHED EATING, if i haven’t pushed my plate to my side, they would’ve taken it too. After that 2 min later decided to leave, asked for the check and payed. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE SERVICE, DISGRACE, we were planning on leaving 6:50, They basically kicked us out after only staying there for 15 minutes. DO NOT RECOMMEND!
So basically morale of the story, could leave around 6:50 PM to 7:00 PM, got basically...
Read moreWe were in the area to attend a Loadbang ensemble performance at Tenri Cultural. I chose Chelsea Ristorante for proximity and because it was ‘neighborhood’ Italian In NYC. Our daughter’s guests were from CA and MI and she wanted them to experience ‘real’ Italian. We all chose pasta- because traffic at the tunnel ate 45 mins. of our 2 hour dinner time. All of our dishes were excellent examples of perfectly balanced flavors, steaming hot, and just-right portion Italian. Our out-of-towners understood why our daughter wanted to raise their bar for Good Italian food - goal achieved. Other than a delicious meal, they considerately held our table (yes I called to tell them we were stuck in the tunnel), served us and set us free in an hour to make our show; our waiter was charming and efficient enough to give us time for desert as well! Plus, the menu is reasonably priced - 5 people/cocktails/dinners/a few desserts to share = $255 tax included. PS to the reviewer who groused about street parking… out of towners should never street park in NYC (use the garages) there are several $ only a 5-7 minute walk away (there is one $$$ down the street). We parked at 12th & 6th for 4 hours and only paid $18 (which may have even been the...
