From the moment I entered Allen Edmonds on Madison Avenue, I was immediately greeted with the professionalism and warmth one expects from a high-end brand. However, it was Nicole Jenkins, the Assistant Store Manager who truly elevated my experience. Being unfamiliar with the unique fit of Allen Edmonds shoes, Nicole promptly and expertly guided me. I was astonished to find that, rather than my typical size of 7-1/2 to 8, I was in fact a 6-1/2 EEE in this brand. Nicole's extensive knowledge of the brand’s welt ensured a perfect fit. Not only did she explain the mechanics behind their shoes, but she also took the time to introduce me to their diverse range of shoe lines, colors, and customization options. I spent a delightful hour and a half, captivated by the sheer quality and variety of shoes on display. And, I must say, Nicole’s expertise was a significant factor in my decision to invest in two pairs of Fifth Avenues, in both dark chili and classic black. The added recommendation of Danite black rubber soles showcased her attention to detail and commitment to ensuring my satisfaction. Even amidst attending to other customers, Nicole managed her time with grace, ensuring each one of us felt valued and well-informed. Her knowledge of how the shoes perform, fit, break in, and even the recrafting process, was nothing short of impressive. I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of my shoes, and I owe a significant part of my excitement to Nicole's outstanding assistance. To anyone considering Allen Edmonds, I wholeheartedly recommend seeking out Nicole Jenkins. It's not just about purchasing a pair of shoes, it's about experiencing the brand in its entirety, and Nicole ensures you...
Read moreExtremely negative experience with the saleswoman at this location. She immediately asked for my name and address so she could look me up in her system, began to openly question some of my prior returns of a couple of items (I've had issues with sizing and quality defects in the past, which were thankfully resolved), and then demanded to know whether I would be making a purchase today before she would let me try on the shoes in my size. I informed her I would be buying the shoes if they fit properly. She asked whether I would buy them in the store or online - and I informed her, honestly, that I would likely purchase them online as I was interested in a custom order with black soles (instead of white) and in a wide size. The saleswoman got visibly angry with me and told me that if I wanted to try on the shoes I would need to commit to buying them in the store today so that she could "get credit" for the purchase. I left and went to another location in the city where I was appropriately welcomed and served --- not treated with contempt and suspicion and presented with a demand to do a personal favor for the saleswoman at this location. This kind of treatment is completely inappropriate; if an employee takes issue with their own employee compensation plan they should raise this internally and not take-out their frustrations on the...
Read moreIt was great to be back in Manhattan after 2 years! I was looking for a pair of black, Grayson tassel loafers to compliment the pair of brown ones I bought 5 or 6 years ago and wear regularly. My wife and I went into the Madisoin Avenue shop and received fantastic, attentive service from the lovely store manager and her colleague Louis. The shoes I wanted were not in stock but Ms. Manager placed them on order and later that day I received email confirmation that they were on the way! It is so nice to go into a physical store for shoes and receive excellent service. In fact, I was looking for another style of shoe (of lower quality) which AE does not make but the Ms. Manager (damn I can't recall her name!) and Louis suggested several other stores where I found what I was looking for. Does service get any better than that. Thank you...
