the only warning i have about this restaurant is that service is very slow because it’s more of an experience. we got to the restaurant at around 4:40 and we didn’t leave until 6:30, if you don’t mind a long dinner than this is the place to be. il mulino has locations all around the states and i’ve only ever been to the trattoria at the swan hotel is disney world. both were amazing! they started us out with a hunk of parmigiana reggiano aged 24 months ,which if you ask they will give you more of. that was free which automatically makes it good but it was very wonderful. afterwards we received bread which consisted of a crostini and focaccia, both were amazing but be warned the crostini is filled with olive oil. afterwards we were offered fried zucchini and traditional bruschetta. the tomatoes used were so fresh and i absolutely loved the zucchini. i will say for reference we didn’t get our menus until 5:10 but we knew what we wanted so we ordered quickly. for appetizers we ordered the baked clams and the eggplant melanzane. i wasn’t a big fan of either, the eggplant was a little bland and the baked clams were a pretty basic flavor. the entrees are what stood out. we ordered the chicken parmigiana (which is what they’re known for), the chilean sea bass (a special) and i side order of the il mulino pasta (vodka cream, black truffle, pancetta, mushrooms and peas). we had the parm in florida too and both agreed that one was better because it had more sauce and cheese but this one was also amazing! the bass was the winner of the entrees, it was so buttery and came with broccoli rabe and a lemon sauce which was amazing! the pasta was our least favorite of the three but still good. there were not many mushrooms and neither one of us got pancetta but there were loads of peas if that’s what you like. the sauce was good but didn’t particularly taste like vodka sauce or truffle. at this point we were completely stuffed but the kitchen was so kind and sent us a dessert platter of ricotta cheesecake, tiramisu and flourless chocolate cake paired with homemade whipped cream and zabaione. the chocolate cake was the winner and the whipped cream was also fresh and slightly sweet. the tiramisu didn’t feel so fresh and was the least favorite of the three. the cheesecake was extremely light and had an underlying flavor of lemon. overall the experience was amazing, we had many waiters because we were the only party in the restaurant for the majority of our meal. the manager was also very attentive and nice. the atmosphere is quaint and wonderful with photos on the walls. i highly recommend this restaurant but just know that it will not be...

We booked a table for outside - as my grandparents who were dining with us did not feel comfortable eating inside. My grandma even stopped by days before when she was in the neighborhood to make sure everything was in order. When we got there for our 530 reservation, there were no tables available, so we accepted a table inside.
Then, it took about an hour and a half after ordering for our entrees to come out. During the 45 minutes or so between appetizers and the main course, we didn't hear anything from our waiter - no updates or apologies, until we started to ask where the food was. It still took about 20 minutes from when we first asked for an update to when we were actually served. We got the excuses that the kitchen got busy and so on, but meanwhile other tables that arrived after we did were served their meals in that time.
It was just poor, poor service all around - the waiter was not apologetic and made excuses and did not act with any urgency to get us fed. And then after we were finally served, the waiter simply did not speak to us for the rest of the meal, just putting things down on the table without saying a word. We were treated with utter contempt.
The manager, who we dealt with in booking the table and in re-seating us inside, did not come over once, either.
We understand that there might be COVID-induced work shortages and challenges, but this was not the level of service commensurate with a restaurant at this price point.
To their credit, they did offer us a bottle of wine and dessert as an apology, which we graciously accepted. But upon returning home and opening the wine, we quickly realized that they gave us a bad bottle of wine, that tasted horribly and clearly was not stored properly. I don't know if this was on purpose or accidental, but it's nevertheless what we ended up with.
A very disappointing experience - we will...
Read moreVisited Mulino's yesterday with my wife, our daughter and niece. Visually, the ambiance was great, the drinks were good at best. Physically, the ambiance was tensed. We were racially profiled upon entry. At Mulino's in Atlantic City & Westchester we received the perfect fine dining experience Mulino offers. At 60th Street, we had to keep asking for simple things, while other guest did not.
I had to ask for a napkin to place in my lap. Other guest had the napkins placed on them, as they and we should have.
We did receive a plate with cheese. Other guest had the cheese cut at the table.
While seating, we had to wait for our waitress, because she was busy serving two tables that arrived after us.
After we ate the chef's appetizers, we had to wait a long time for our table to be cleaned off. Other guest had it done immediately after they ate.
This was uncomfortable for us. We have traveled the world and have experienced fine dining. Ha's in Mexico, Latitude 10 North in Costa Rica, and many more. To be in our home town and be treated poorly was nothing less of distasteful.
Now, the food: Our steaks temperature request was not met. We had to send it back to the chef. It was tasty, but not the best Mulino has to offer. 60th Street was a dump.
To top it off, I was waiting at our table to sign the bill and these worthless individuals stopped my wife at the door like a criminal. We have never received a meal we didn't pay for. Classless act done at Mulino's @ 60th Street.
They humiliated us and we will not forget this. Again, we have actually been to Mulino's at Westchester too and they live up to brand. 60th Street is a place you should avoid if your not White. They won't treat you equally.
The manager was a...
