I had really high hopes for Almonte. The reviews are great, and they were very professional when I called, so I was hoping that I had found a new nail salon close to me. When I arrived, my temperature was taken, and I washed my hands. Everything was fine, but maybe 25-30 minutes into my appointment, my allergies flared. Now, I have had allergies my entire life, and I had walked 20 minutes to the salon in 40° weather, so quite naturally, I had a bit of a flare. I sneezed twice, and I had to blow my nose a few times. Because of this, I was told that I would not be able to receive the rest of the services I was supposed to get. I understand that COVID has everyone on high alert, but there were a few issues with being asked to leave. 1. Sneezing is NOT a symptom of COVID (I legit only sneezed twice). 2. I was told I wouldn't be able to receive complete service BEFORE my toes were painted, yet the young lady (who was VERY sweet), chose to finish painting my toes, and then I was allowed to sit another 15 minutes and let my toenails dry after she painted them. Now, if they were concerned about COVID, wouldn't they ask me to leave immediately instead of completing my pedicure and allowing me to sit an extra 15 minutes? I remained in the salon a good 30 minutes after I was told I couldn't get my nails done. 3. They told me that I was welcome to make an appointment the following day or day after. Again, if COVID was the concern, I would need to quarantine for 2 weeks not 2 days. Why offer me a subsequent appointment merely 48 hours after refusing me service? 4. I was completely fine when I walked in. It wasn't until I began my appointment that my allergies flared. The weather and a possible irritant in the salon could have set them off, and I can't control that, but they aren't contagious which I tried to explain to the young lady. I am a professional; I would NEVER put anyone at risk especially not for a nail appointment. How selfish would I have to be to come into someone's establishment knowing I have contagious symptoms? 4. That said, if your establishment is open during a global pandemic, you are automatically at risk. People can be asymptomatic carriers and bring the virus in without anyone knowing it. That is the risk you take when you open during a time like this. 5. It is fall in NYC, people are going to have the sniffles. That is common.
Again, I know and understand being cautious in the time of COVID, but it is also important to talk to your customers before kicking them out especially if the steps you are taking don't match what you are saying. If COVID was the concern, I would have been asked to leave immediately, but I wasn't. I was allowed to stay in the salon an extra 30 minutes, so it doesn't make sense to me. I was livid and left feeling confused and embarrassed. I wanted so badly to have a good experience at Almonte Nails because of the convenience of the shop and the reviews. Sadly, I was refused service, and it was blamed on the health department. If the health department was going to be an issue, the fact that they let me sit an extra 30 minutes wouldn't have been the case; they would've made me leave after the first sneeze or the first time I blew my nose. I'm still very confused at all of this as it doesn't make sense to me, but I won't be returning, and that is unfortunate because my toenails...
Read moreI love this nail salon ! I came to this nail salon two years ago, because my usual nail technician wasn’t in and I desperately needed my nails done. With my old nail tech I would always explain to her how I liked my nails but every time she still did them incorrectly. The first time I came to Almonte, I sat with Mitzy. I explained to Mitzy how I liked my acrylic to look. Flat by the cuticles, and a thin overlay of acrylic. She got it exactly how I liked it with a beautiful square tip and pretty pink!
Ever since, I have been going to Mitzy and I’m very happy about the service her, and her family provide ! She is an excellent nail tech, and I get a lot of comments on my who my nail tech is and I always refer everyone to her ! My sets have always lasted me a month before I go in again! I started going with short nails and always had to use tips. After 8 months of being with Mitzy, my nails were as long as the tips I would wear :)
After four months of not seeing Mitzy due to me giving birth, I returned yesterday evening and of course again... she did an amazing job ! Thank you for your amazing service ! You are...
Read moreI came to Almonte Nails based on google reviews.I called made a appointment and was told with a appointment you have to leave 25 dollar deposit for appointment no problem for me.I arrived on time was greeted by a older woman who desk was in the back. The other two techs that was in the shop said nothing to me while I was there ( nice hospitality ) lol I told the nail tech what I wanted and she tried her best but I can tell she really was not skilled in shaping my nails as I wanted I noticed that the younger nail tech was more knowledgeable but she just glanced over from time to time no pointers to the nail tech just looked and criticized in Spanish. I will not be returning due to the the nail tech not being knowledgeable about shaping of my nails. For the owners reply you should help your employees with more knowledge about shaping of the human nails. The character and hospitality of your Staff is what it is because it’s my experience. Again I would not be returning due to nail tech not being knowledgeable pertaining to...
