I had the privilege of getting to know Chelsey not only as a rolfer and Thai bodyworker, but also a practitioner of her newer modality of scar tissue healing and integration. I found Chelseyâs scar work to be a powerful and unique experience that I would recommend to anyone, but especially those who are interested in rejuvenating areas of the body that have been affected by surgery or other traumatic events. Chelsey is a highly experienced bodyworker. So, even though the scar work is a relatively new addition to her repertoire, she brings her many years of experience and vast amount of training to the work. She is also a highly sensitive and creative practitioner. Like a true artist, she uses the techniques as a framework for improvisation, following the bodyâs cues and placing her attention to where her intuition leads her. The actual scar work is almost deceptively gentle. At several points while Chelsey was working on my scars, her touch was so light that I felt lulled into a state of deep calm. But the gentleness of the manipulations are not indicative of the power of this modality. Even after one session, there was visible and clear change in the appearance of the scars, as well as softening of hardened tissue, and an altered sense of sensation and flexibility in the areas she addressed. She described the work as gently unraveling layers, and it did feel like her attention was re-educating the body to find new energetic, and more inclusive pathways through and around the scar tissue. I would highly recommend her to anyone suffering from any type of ongoing or chronic pain issues or if you are feeling your body is out of alignment (which is the case for most of us). I first met Chelsey taking her yin yoga classes, which were excellent. At the time, I was suffering from chronic neck, shoulder, and back pain. Although I was getting massages, they would only give me temporary relief, and the pain would return. I did a 10 sessions of rolfing with Chelsey, where she focused on different parts of my body and experienced major relief after each session. I released a lot of tension throughout various parts of my body (that I didn't even know I was holding onto), let go of the back & neck pain, increased mobility & flexibility, felt more grounded & connected, and even lost excess weight which I had been holding onto. I did a yoga retreat when I had completed most of the sessions, and I was surprised at how much I was able to do, and I really credit the rolfing for it. I had been scared of rolfing because I had heard it was terribly painful, but Chelsey is a gentle & talented practitioner and healer. So, yes, at times it can be painful but Chelsey is very sensitive and responsive and makes sure to never push your body too much. After our first session, my body changed completely. Daily autonomic functions and second nature tasks that usually go unnoticed, have become noticeably effortless, such as exercising, walking, sitting and breathing! Yes! Breathing! My confidence has increased as I no longer feel self-conscious about certain aspects of my body that she has corrected, and my posture.
