Finding myself organically in front of this shop 6 minutes before they opened and with just one person in line, I decided to give it a go. Cafe Pana has a reputation of long lines and so I took this one opportunity to give them a go. Wow! Their ice cream is incredibly tasty, creamy- absolutely delicious! The flavors , the texture, the combinations are sublime. I always choose vanilla just to experience what their ice cream is like without any add-ons and true enough- this is a higher quality ice cream than most places. I eat ice cream about 3 times a week year round (daily in the summer) and have enjoyed ice cream from across the globe (Mediterranean, Japan, Scandinavia, Tanzania, S.Africa, Israel etc.). While I already have the best gelato place down (5th avenue, Park Slope 😜), and the best soft serve (Long Beach boardwalk 💜) I have yet to discover the absolute best ice cream scoops. Cafe Panna is a serious candidate for that spot. Fantastic ice cream indeed! In addition, the service was great, they have a cute sit-down spot and a bathroom. Ps. It is so good, I would love to work here so that I may learn how to make these delicious artisan...
Read moreI have gone to Caffe Panna at least 15 times trying to understand what all the hype is about, and am still confused. I have tried all the flavors they have regularly and all are so mediocre, it makes you wonder why they were selected to stay on the daily menu. The rotating flavors have been equally as disappointing. There’s been so many times that the ice cream is straight-up flavorless (how can a coffee ice cream leave you wondering if you have COVID it’s so tasteless?). The service is dreadful- they perpetually have five employees standing around doing nothing while only one person takes orders to ensure they always have a line to maintain the hype. Yesterday I saw two working dancing in the corner of the shop while there was a hour long line literally around the block of people waiting. You’re better off getting a pint of Ben and Jerry’s and saving your...
Read morehmmm... i had been looking forward to trying cafe pannas brooklyn location since it opened... in particular because they have an exclusive granita ONLY in brooklyn. We ordered the coffee granita and soft serve of the day. Let me start with the positive - the soft serve had a great whipped consistency. The granita on the other hand ... was very watery and lacked any coffee flavor. it was also very sweet. Granita is supposed to be a dark splintery ice consistency with a strong coffee presence and subtle sweetness. Unfortunately i went to italy this summer and this was not a granita. I was very disappointed because I grew very passionate about this dessert in ITALIA and it's rare to see it outside of Italia. I also find it ridiculous it was 8.5 , the same price as the ice cream. (you can see the size disparity in figure 1) if go , id say pass on...
