Butterfly Studio Salon — Local services in New York

I’ve been contemplating whether or not to leave this review for several months, but after having to spend over $1,500 to repair the severe mistakes that were made on my head. I felt the need to review so this does not happen to someone else.

I went to get my roots touched up and my lifted hair re-toned. I understand this salon is busy, but newer stylists should be encouraged to abide by what her instructor/boss asks them to do. I also think that my stylist should have been under closer supervision, so these mistakes don’t happen again. I overheard her boss ask her to tone my hair a warmer tone, which she totally disregarded intentionally because she was attempting to achieve a more cool blonde despite that not being what I asked her.

A bad color job, I could deal with. But the entire top layer closest to my scalp was chemically burned off. To make matters worse, I saw my stylist call someone over to the sink- I’m assuming when my hair started to fall off and they BOTH brushed it off. Completely unprofessional. I did not realize my hair was like this until I got home because she blow dryed it in a way that it was blended and fluffed in. My dumb a*s still decided to tip her $40 too...

Sadly that’s not even where it ends. When I touched my scalp the following morning, I had several large bloody scabs on it. My entire head is a grey tone blonde.

All in all, after the damage that was done to my hair- I had to go through so many different processes to attempt to salvage what was left, and have spent so much money doing so. But really I think what’s been worse is that I reached out to the salon the very next day & was met with radio silence.

This place is criminal do not come here. Manager is arrogant and disrespectful and couldn’t take accountability for the horrible damage done to the hair. I’ve been dying my hair for 15 years and she tried to gaslight me by saying TOTAL breakage and underdeveloped dye is normal. And then lied and said the owner is “on leave”. It’s been a year and I’m still trying to repair my hair. She argued with me about a refund and upon going to another salon to help me fix it they also agreed that the hair was COMPLETELY BOTCHED and were scared to even do anything. I despise this salon and no one seems to know what they’re doing. Save yourself months of damage repair and hundreds of thousands in treatments and botched hair repair. I hope your salon gets its licensing revoked and that a formal investigation happens. Take a look at all of the negative reviews and see that I’m not the only one who has encountered horrible fraudulent service, but then are gaslit and disrespected after the fact. I really can’t say worse things about this place. This is not a hair salon. This place is a scam and your staff and manager are truly the worst and inexperienced and genuinely ruining the quality of people’s hair and scalp and then lie to your face all while charging hundreds of dollars and then arguing that you’re not owed a refund. At least I got my refund because if I didn’t I would’ve sued. This place is a mess and the manager should be ashamed of...

I’ve been a client of Faye C’s for a couple years, I found her leading up to my wedding as I was looking for someone who was excellent with brunette to blonde highlights and who I could trust to make my hair look incredible for my big day. Faye exceeded my expectations and beyond!! And that is coming from someone who is very particular and notices every detail. I’ve been seeing her ever since and my color is the best it’s ever been. I get complimented all the time on it, and every time I see her I leave so happy. Not to mention, she is just an overall wonderful person, such a warm personality and she’s become a friend. I always look forward to coming to the salon and catching up with her. Also, she gets my blonde so perfect every time and my highlights SO close to my roots in a way no one else has or takes the time to do (she definitely puts in the extra time and effort to go the extra mile to make sure she is giving me the best service and results possible and it shows, she gets all the baby hairs too). I also used to have so much more breakage after getting highlights but whatever she does has helped me be able to go very blonde to the level I want but without destroying my hair, so that’s a big win for me because I’ve struggled with that in the past! I couldn’t have more positive things to say about Faye, and highly recommend for anyone looking for amazing color and such an enjoyable experience. I feel SO lucky to have...
