Canal Body Work Inc — Local services in New York

It's great that this company moved to a quieter location from the hustle and bustle of Canal Street where you can hear the noise outside as well as the other rooms (the walls are thin). But at the Doyer location, it's much more peaceful and the area outside is nicer. There are places to sit and eat/drink after your massage. We usually do 2 hr full body massages @ $90 which is cheaper than other places where they charge for more than $100 or $150 for 1hr. Everytime we go here, I would ask the masseuse to be gentle. In the beginning, it would hurt despite the gentleness, maybe due to being tensed and tight, then afterwards, it wouldn't hurt anymore. I think the masseuse did a good job releasing the tension. Another thing, you can text the owner, Kevin, when you would like to come and he can easily accommodate you especially if you plan to bring someone with you so that he can arrange for more masseuses. They provides perfect massage.Nice employees, but they kinda want to trick clients. They made different combos and put the card in the video below stating that of you write them a yelp review you can have a additional 15 minutes. So we pick the 45 minutes combo and confirmed with the front desk if the extra 15 min is available. After we got a solid yes from one of the employees, we went in. However, they combo is not as flexible as it looks like and the the employees distributed the time for us, so when we went to pay at the front desk, they said we can use the combo and what we have became two single services. And the employees denied the additional 15 min says they never heard of that. So we called the boss and here’s what happened then (conversation in both Chinese and English). We came to nam wah, the restaurant next to Canal Body few days ago! We saw a board saying combination back and foot massage 38$ so we decided to give it a try.

Ambience : okay Hygiene : 8/10. Pretty decent. Back massage : 8/10 ( although i had slight pain near my spine the next morning, bcz i guess the lady used her elbow to give me pressure points. Its been 5 days, the pain is still there, otherwise it wad good) Foot : 5/10 - it was not too good. Did not enjoy it much.

While leaving, we gave a tip that was maybe lesser than what they expected. The lady who gave massage was pretty upset. The tip amount is at the sole discretion of the customer. I am not sure if its a correct practice to feel bad if u dont get a certain amount as tip.
