Charm Aviation NYC — Local services in New York

November 2022. Charm Aviation cancelled our trip first time due to fuel contamination (!). We rescheduled to a later date and again the staff made us rearrange our plans and rebooked us for a later hour. Once we arrived, after a 20 minute wait we were told that we would not be able to fly on the day as the only available pilot is out due to covid. Surely this is information that could have been relayed to us in advance and not once we had already arrived. The staff then proceeded to try to reschedule us for another day (this would have been the third reschedule) even though we clearly explained to them that we were leaving NYC the next day.

What happened next blew us away. Charm Aviation staff DENIED us a refund stating that because we secured the reservation through a 3rd party website, we were on our own with getting the money back. This was an attempt to shift blame on us for not being able to retrieve our payment for a service they had NOT rendered. The desk employees were reluctant to assist with refunding our money, stating that they have no means (no system in place) of contacting the 3rd party who we purchased tickets from. It was only after I had explained to the desk staff that as per the cancellation policy of the 3rd party I cannot request a refund from my end within 24 hours of the scheduled reservation time did they find a WhatsApp number and email address to the 3rd party helpdesk.

The Manager was present during this interaction but failed to bring any value to the situation. He walked around us several times, and spoke to the Desk Staff referring to us as “they” while pointing fingers in our direction which felt rude. Especially that he did not introduce himself to us. Upon confronting him about the situation, he reiterated the narrative of how it was our fault for using a 3rd party app and not their official website, and that they only get 1-2 bookings from this app a month.

Please note the 3rd party service which I am referring to in this review is a well renowned and trusted app which we have used dozens of times prior and which has always been flawless. They have 70000 5* reviews on the App Store, 30000+ on trustpilot, and 4000 on Google. On this occasion once they received the refund request from Charm Aviation we had our money back on our bank account the same day! But it took a very unpleasant tug of war with Charm Aviation to get there.

We proceeded to book a flight with charm aviation’s direct competitors (whom I shall not name in this review so as to not sound biased) who were able to squeeze us in for a flight in one of the several helicopters they had available within the same hour! On July 4th we took the helicopter ride at 2pm with Charm Aviation. We boarded early 1.50pm. Weather was good. We were a group of 3. We got there early enough to check in. Then it was our turn. We were together with another family of 3. Prior to entering the helicopter the charm aviation worker took a group picture of the 3 of us. We hop on and our journey lasted 13mins. Pilot point out places of interest while on the journey. Upon hopping off I asked the last person who gets off well he was part of my group to take me a single picture with the chopper. The worker ( who disembarked us) was standing there he was very rude he chased us away. Telling us to leave. Now, to you rude worker you are biased. I sat there and saw how the other workers treated the customers with utmost respect and dignity. But you feel one single picture would end the world. I paid the fee for the ride plus the helliport fee and this is how I was treated. I brought 2 other customers with me to gain the experience of a helicopter ride yet this is how I was treated. Well with your rude harsh behavior I won't be recommending any other person to fly with charm aviation and that is based on my experience with YOU!!. Safety comes first I was standing more than 15 feet away and you insist we move. No other group was lined up to embark. What is your point in doing your job and being biased? You looking at faces and choose who to be nice to? We'll keep doing that and we shall see how many more customers you will get to buy a helicopter ride. Is people like me that supports and bring charm aviation 2 more customers along so you the biased worker can have a job there. For that reason I did not tip as i do not know if my pilot would have got his tip or the rude charm worker who doesn't deserve a penny more from me!! Customer service is a guaranteed satisfaction in business like this.

Your response is baseless. You can't like the picture of me in the front. I wasn't sitting on the front with the pilot. Also, to your point on safety yall are all biased now!! Because I saw others took pictures after they came off and it wasn't an issue. Stop making it look like the picture was the issue. It is the manner the staff spoke to us chasing us like animals on the tarmac to leave. My decision is done made I won't support nor recommend...
