Check Cashing & Foreign Currency Exchange — Local services in New York

Do not go here. It's the shadiest place I've ever been.

The owner told me that he'd give me "the best rate in the whole city" – all he wanted in return was a good review online. (Could explain why they have such a great review).

Turns out he didn't have a good rate. I paid much, much more here compared to the place I went to one week later.

On top of that, I had to take out cash, in total for six dollars, since they do not take cards.

They did not ask for my ID or my address, which is practice at other places when you exchange a lot of money. They did not count the money in front of me.

I also asked for a receipt, because I needed it for my employer. He printed his Google search for the exchange rate as a receipt!!

Something is not right at this place. I felt as if...

Barry is great! I needed to do a currency exchange (USD to Japanese Yen). I gave him a call first to confirm he had some and went in later that day. He is very kind, professional, and customer service oriented. We messed up the first time with the rates/counting and when I called him back about it, he told me to come back so we can fix it. Upon my second return he was apologetic (although it was also on me that I did not double check before leaving) and quickly remedied the error. I’m really grateful that he did that, as I’m sure a lot of other places wouldn’t have once I left the first time. He threw in a Kind Bar as well....

The guy is an A**hole! I callled a few weeks ago to find out about exchanging USD to COP currency. When I arrived there on Wednesday, he told me he don’t do COP currency. I told him but I call a few weeks ago and you said yes. He goes I can’t even remember yesterday-_-. So I asked him a few questions for a friend that was coming in to get some EUR. He barely wanted to answer any of the questions and was acting like I was annoying him by asking the questions. At one point he told me to tell the person do the math themselves. Very unprofessional!! Would never recommend this...
