CheckMate — Local services in New York

So one Saturday night, my wife worked up the courage to head to Checkmates. It is self-described as an upscale club catering to "very fit, young and attractive couples ages 23 to 40ish".

This might be accurate if "ish" meant give or take 25 years. There were a few younger, attractive women though it was unclear if they were there for pleasure or profit. The VAST majority were in their upper 40s, 50s and maybe older. They were generally not fit nor attractive.

The site says "Dress to Impress", no jeans or tee shirts, so we got dressed up. But it turned out many of the guys and some of the gals were wearing jeans. The "velvet rope" policy doesn't seem to be much of a policy at all. Anyone willing to pay the fee to enter is admitted.

As for the venue itself, there's a small dance floor with couches around. There was limited eye candy on the dance floor. We kissed and rubbed on the couch before making our way to the back rooms. Before you can head to the back rooms you must disrobe and then wear a robe (or nothing). The smell of sex permeates the back rooms. This shouldn't be surprising I suppose but it sure was a turn-off. We didn't see any condoms or wipes, etc. and it's unclear how often the sheets/coverings are changed. It seemed most people laid down their robes before playing.

The backrooms definitely afford you the opportunity to watch (and listen) and be watched. We played for a while watched a little and were watched a bit. The people we encountered were generally very nice and not pushy though not our type.

It's possible it was an off night and it could be pretty good depending on the crowd. If we return, it would likely be with others whom we're willing to play with rather than meet someone there.

The night wasn't totally bad but definitely not what is advertised...

I recently had the pleasure of visiting and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The atmosphere is simply fantastic – cozy yet vibrant, making it the perfect spot for both a lively night out and a relaxed evening with friends. The cleanliness of the place stood out immediately; every corner is spotless, showing the care and attention to detail the staff puts into maintaining the space.

The highlight of the visit was undoubtedly the bartender. Not only is Sasha incredibly skilled at crafting delicious drinks, but their charisma and warmth truly set the tone for the evening. They are amazing with people, making everyone feel welcome and ensuring that each guest has a personalized and enjoyable experience.

Adding to the allure of the place is the incredible DJ. The music was spot-on, perfectly complementing the atmosphere and keeping the energy alive throughout the night. The DJ’s talent for reading the crowd and mixing tracks seamlessly made the night even more memorable.

Overall, this place is a gem that combines a great atmosphere, impeccable cleanliness, outstanding service, and an amazing DJ. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a top-notch...

Nice atmosphere, really cool LED dance floor. The best thing about this place is the DJ. He played a great mix of Latin, hip-hop and dance pop music. Wife and I have been to 50+ clubs around the world. This is in the top 3 for music. My wife didn’t want to stop dancing for play time. It should be noted that it was not a busy night. Maybe 10-12 couples.

The play rooms were fine. Nothing special but not bad. They served their purpose.

The next portion of my review needs context. I’m an average looking guy, but I’m fit and thin. My wife is a super hot young Asian weighing 88lbs with big fake assets upstairs. 10/10 for sure. We had to get pre screened to attend, so we assumed everyone would look like us, fit and thin. But that wasn’t the case. Many different ages and body sizes. Not judging, but this is not like many European and Asian clubs we attend that require men to wear ties and girls to wear Lingerie. Some guys had jeans on.

They tried to make it a high class, high society club, it isn’t. I only paid $220, so I should have known better. Still, I would absolutely go back. Just to watch my wife...
