So I stopped by Yesterday for a spa treatment. Unfortunately the own was so rude and it felt as though my sister in-law and I were being racially profiled. This is usually where some of my friends and I would go to get our massages done in the past since 2019. What I noticed was any time I stopped by alone without any of my Asian friends I was treated very “Stand off ish” by the owner. Our very first visit there he encouraged my Asian friend and I to buy the gift package and we did so. We would occasionally buy it and split it and this kept us going to the location for our spa treatment. Unfortunately due to covid I was not able to make it there for my treatments but had a few more gift coupons at my disposal so when i finally visited after covid last year and presented the coupon, as my form of payment he seemed not amused at all. I ignored his behavior and tipped my favorite Masseuse as I always do but I noticed he kept asking if I was going to “tip”. I would say yes but it always felt uncomfortable. Yesterday I stopped by again with my sister inlaw to get a massage without an appointment. He seem not so happy to see us. I stated to him I wanted to buy the gift coupon deal, he convince my friend and I to buy before. He stated to me “it’s not there any more”. I persistently asked since I preferred the deal as I would usually gift some out to friends as well but he stated it is only around the holidays. It happens around the holidays. I said no because on my previous visits he had convinced me to buy the promotion telling me I would get one free massage I believe it was about or 250 dollars. He stated no. The offer was no more. Being that I left my gift coupon I decided to pay any way. My sister in-law at this point was somewhat fed up with his rudeness and insisted we leave but I insisted we stayed and wait for our turn ( 25-30) . I noticed he had a new price list on the wall as well as the glass barrier in front of him. I offered to pay for a 45 min session instead of the hour session I usually went for. Besides my favorite masseuse I was told was not in town and would be back in September. After the payment was made and before he could complete the transaction he asked if I wanted to add a tip. I said no. He said well the tip encourages them to do a better job other wise they don’t. I was a bit confused. He said well are you going to give a tip to them when they finish the work. I got confused because it felt as if he was pushing me to tip the masseuse. Now this is not the first time he has acted this way towards me and my sis in-law also stated the same. So I said no. I asked am I not paying for the services. Besides I have not even received the services but it felt as if he wanted so desperately to know how much of a tip we planned to give the masseuse. It felt very uncomfortable. Extremely uncomfortable. He stated if you are not giving a tip then leave. He said leave. I said ok. He canceled the 90 dollars transaction and we left. Now my masseuse ( A) would tell you I always give her a generous tip after she’s always done with the treatment. It just felt very odd and racist. As if he wanted to know how much of a tip we were going to give the masseuse so he would deduct it from their pay. It was very bad. Very bad experience. If I find the rest of my gift coupons I will return them to him for a refund. I plan to report it to the BBB. This is no way to treat clients. I couldn’t believe I left Brooklyn for this. I felt as though I was...
Read moreI’ve been to Chelsea Wellness multiple times and have always done a walk in and had phenomenal service to the point that I’ve taken a couple friends and relatives to pamper them. The ambiance is really nice and it’s usually a very nice relaxing and calming feeling for a really great price. Since I’m accustomed to going there, I know that they usually welcome you and tell you where the restroom is and then explain that you need to derobe and they’ll be back. I also know that there’s usually nice therapeutic music playing. Today was different. My partner needed a massage and I decided to take him there. They thought we needed a couples massage and scheduled one. That’s not an issue at all. I agreed and joined. The two masseuse seemed to be in a huge hurry from the jump. They hurried us into the room and stood outside asking “are you ready” “are you ready” without giving much time to derobe. We had to be in the room for 2 mins when they were knocking and asking if we were ready. There was no therapeutic music playing in the room, only in the hallways. Once they came into the room the entire message felt rushed and rough. My Masseuse in particular was really rough and it felt very uncomfortable and painful despite me telling her she was pressing on me too hard. She was pressing so hard my breast were mashed down to the table. She also kept whispering to the other masseuse and they even began giggling at one point. At one point she left the room for a little while to get the hot stones (this never happened before. They usually have them there). They even ended a little earlier than the time it was to end. However, I was so disappointed with the entire service that I was just glad it was over with. Once it ended, she stood there watching me like a hawk for a tip even though the service was horrible (yes, I tipped). Overall it’s a nice establishment and usually a very nice relaxing and therapeutic experience but I’m just so turned off that I’m not sure I’ll be back. Hopefully this review helps to guide services for others...
Read moreI bought the 90 minute aromatherapy OR CBD oil massage + facial from Groupon for roughly $70.
Despite the place being very attractive looking inside, you’re getting exactly what you pay for if you buy the Groupon.
I have had hundreds of massages at a variety of spas and this was one of the worst. The “massage therapist” who I do not believe was a legitimate licensed professional and was wearing a T-shirt and jeans opened the door on occupied rooms while trying to find me an available room. That was the first sign of trouble.
I received no form to fill out to state if I had previously surgeries, which areas were tense or needed more work or if I preferred light or deep pressure or if I preferred male or female therapist. Also wasn’t asked if I wanted aromatherapy or CBD oil. I guess they decide all of this FOR YOU.
The therapist took me to a room and didn’t state if I was having the massage or facial first. I tried twice to ask but it was clear his English wasn’t good.
The massage was basically him applying a ton of cheap massage oil with hard pressure on my spine, sacrum, and bones. I asked repeatedly for him to lighten his pressure, he laughed and did for a few seconds and then went right back to applying ridiculously deep pressure especially over bony areas.
Last straw was when he abruptly left the room for 5 minutes. Didn’t tell me anything, just left. I guess he went to get the hot stones. Too bad I was already in the process of getting dressed to leave.
If you choose to come here just know that you’ll be getting bottom of the barrel massages and service. I don’t even want to imagine what the facial was gonna be like.
Never coming back. Back to Eden...
