One several occasions, both over the phone and in person, we had scheduled our group's cast party. Although the follow up responses from Mike (the owner) were delayed, to say the least, we were supposed to have an arrangement that would allow for 40+ people to gather with a drink special arranged around their POS system which closes happy hour after 7pm (our party started at 7pm).
40-50 show up and I am getting calls and text message saying that the bar said that the reservation was canceled. I went to the bar to discuss the matter. I was told 'there's no manager' and was dismissed by the bartender, a bearded white male, working the bar. Apparently, there was no one there in charge at all. I indicated that I spoke to Mike, did not matter.
Having an error with the booking is one thing. Mistakes happen and we understand that places are understaffed. To not recognize the bar was full of people from one party and that this was because we had a booking in place and doing absolutely nothing to resolve it is inexcusable. They clearly were presented with evidence of a booking - crowd size, call records, name and description of the persons I spoke with. The bartender who said they didn't have a manager was dismissive. He refused to call a manager, Mike or anyone else. He acted like there was no way to resolve the issue. We (literally) filled their bar with folks looking to celebrate a special night after a long hiatus due to COVID. Instead, people left early, frustrated with the event.
The only silver lining was after leaving there we found a bar, close by, that was happy to have us. The bartender there was efficient, attentive and even made eye contact when he spoke to us. It salvaged what should have been a joyful evening.
We have never felt less welcome then we did that night. If you want good service where customers matter, I do not recommend this...
Read moreI stopped in the other day during Pride. Yes, I understand things were busy. I was given a drink menu at the host stand. I picked out a drink, waited at the bar to order, and then gave my order. I was then told they were using a limited menu and I needed to pick something else. This is something the hostess should have known, but fine (she even recommended the drink I initially ordered). I then ordered one of the available drinks, and started drinking it while the bartender took my card to run it. She came back and said there is a two-drink minimum. This AFTER I had started consuming my drink, mind you. I did not stop in for two drinks, simple as that. I told her I did not have cash and it was "too late now," giving her the choice: take the drink back or simply run my card for the one drink. She said, "you don't need to be rude to your bartender; they just now changed it to the two-drink minimum and told me about it." I said, "So, you expect me to be responsible for a new rule that I didn't know about, and that even you didn't know about two mins ago?" It was rather brazen to try to bully me into buying a second drink after-the-fact. Customer service here is...
Read moreBEST BURGER in Manhattan. We came here by chance one evening and were completely blown away with how great it was. JJ Kinahan’s has a huge open space with 2 floors, mega TV screens and a lively atmosphere. It’s a great spot for after work HH or to watch a game. The menu is not your typical ‘bar food’ rather an assortment of well thought out quality options that offer something for everyone. Let’s talk about the JJ Burger, it’s absolutely phenomenal - we’re talking delicious beef, caramelized onions, perfectly melted cheese and we got the truffle fries are an added bonus. We also got the Rogue Sliders which were out of this world.
The staff was warm, welcoming and truly cared about each person that walked through the door. Added bonus, if you’re a whiskey, Moscow mule and speciality cocktail enthusiast, your going to love JJ Kinahan’s! We plan to go back Thursday for the burger, yeah...
