Terrible attitude and behavior from staff and doorman towards non-vip guests. If you’re not vip, they are gonna make you freeze. And as a result, I had my jacket stolen. I always wanted to go to Somewhere Nowhere. I’m so sad that my first experience turned out this terrible. I arrived with a group of girls and we were asked to check our coats. I was wearing a sleeveless dress and had a nice black leather jacket on (see the pic from earlier that night at another venue). I insisted that I would like to keep my jacket on as it is part of my outfit but the bouncer says I cannot go the venue if I don’t take my coat off. We see other group of girls and guys head to the venue with their coats on. When I ask the bouncer, he says those people have been approved by management to go in with their coats. When we make it to the venue, the temperature is on the cooler side. I was having a great time, but I was freezing after few hours. So I asked a security guard if I could head back down to the lobby where coat check is to get my jacket and head back up. He responds yes, you can. So I go to coat check, get my jacket, put it on and go to the elevator to head back up. But the guy at the elevator does not let me up arguing again that I cannot go to the venue with a coat. I let him know that there are other girls upstairs wearing their coats (and like long winter coats as opposed to my trendy leather jacket) but he says those girls were allowed to wear their jackets by management!!! At this point, I don’t want to go back to the venue and I’m ready to head home because of the terrible attitude but I need to go to the bathroom before heading out. So I asked if there is a bathroom I could use in the lobby, and they say no and that I would need to go back to the venue to use the restroom. But I also need to take off my jacket to get to the restroom. I ask the coat check lady if I could check my coat back in since I just checked it out few minutes ago and she says no, and that I would need to pay again to check in my coat to go to the bathroom. I was in such a hurry to head to the bathroom so I left my jacket under the couch there, head upstairs back to the venue to go to the bathroom, then come back down after few minutes and my jacket is gone!! I ask the coat check lady about it, and she ignores my question while smoking a vape in my face. The bouncer says it is my fault since I had to pay again to check my jacket back in. This is the most ridiculous scenario I have ever experienced at a club. Their policies should apply to everyone and not just non-vip guests. Also, if they make you check in your coats, the temperature at the club should be tolerable and not so cold. I had my expensive jacket stolen because security told me that I can head back down and bring my jacket. I lost my jacket because I had to use the restroom!!! Policy should apply to all, and not just whoever management...

Read moreIt has taken me a couple of weeks to come to terms with the racist actions of the employees at this venue. As a director of a consulting firm, here in nyc, it’s bewildering to me how venues still base their decision on who enters their establishment by the color of your skin. After having some drinks and food at the 40/40 club, me and 2 of my friends decided to check out a rooftop that a colleague of mine recommended. As we were standing in line, there were 2 separate parties in front of us- 1) a group of 4 white men directly in front of us and 2) an individual white male in front of said group. The hostess made it clear to both parties that the rooftop was at capacity and they were only allowing admission with rsvp. However, she presented both parties with the option to go to the bar on the 38th floor. When it was our turn ( 3 black men), we immediately told them we did not have rsvp but would like to go to the bar on the 38th floor. The male host immediately interrupted the female hostess and spoke to us in a very demeaning and condensing way. The host proceeds to tell us that the bar was closing in the10-15 min and we should come back after everyone leaves for a party. Mind you this was at 830PM. Again, the host told us that the bar was closing in 10-15min, everyone would leave, and then they would re-open the bar for their party. Our response- "this was not the same option that you just gave the 2 groups ahead of us". His response was it’s in your best interest and I suggest you come back. The host was clearly racist and thought we were idiots to think that that was an acceptable excuse. Our firm hosts many happy hours and outings for clients and we have never heard of such a blatant lie. Further, from my 10+ years living and going out in NYC, I have never heard a host/hostess tell anyone that it is in your best interest to leave. With that being said, if I do not hear a response within 1 week our firms lawyers will be involved to handle this racist, bigoted and ignorant behavior the legal and monetary way.
10/17/2022 Update Since we have not heard any response, we have filed an official complaint with the NYC Commission on Human Rights and will be taking further actions
11/14/2022 Update I personally reached out to the email that was provided as a response to my review. No response or phone call. Our lawyers have stated that this is normal to show that they tried to rectify the situation. We will proceed as planned. Thought it could be handled amicably since there are plenty of negative reviews stating...
