I wanted to write this review for awhile but wanted to wait to see how my condition would resolve. I used to love this place. First time I came there to fix the pain in my shoulder and they helped me a lot. The pain was gone. I recommended this place to everybody I knew. I came back to fix my runner's knee. I did most of my sessions with Shayna Haley. During the treatment, I started to develop pain in my hips on the front and sides, as well as a dull pain in the groin on the right side. I let Shayna Haley know that; she said it was absolutely normal and part of the process; I believed her and continued through the pain. Later the pain started to worsen and I developed a painful click in my right hip (I never had any clicks or any issues with my hips before). I told Shayna about it, she said it was normal. I had 12 treatments for my left knee and what I was left with was iliopsoas tendinitis and bursitis as well as outer thighs bursitis, I developed a click on the outer thighs too (which I never had before either). I decided to go to Daniel to try to fix the damage, as he helped me before with my shoulder. I told Daniel (the owner) about it and what struck me so deeply that he was defending his colleague and trying to convince me that everything was quote "standard and it was my body and I probably had arthritis in the hip". Why was my care standard? Do all people have standard bodies? No. The treatment should always be personalised. They also put in my file that I had prior hip problems :) Later, when I had money, I did an MRI and X-rays; I didn't have anything wrong with my hips besides tendonitis/bursitis. I believe that they gave me a lot of leg raises with weights where my iliopsoas was already very shortened and irritated by sitting at work. Also, I had a surgery on my wrist and treated it earlier at City PT. The exercises they were giving me for the hip would have irritated my wrist and knee. They had my file with all my info and should have paid attention to what exercises to give. After 10 sessions to try to help with the pain in the hip, there was no relief. They failed to recognise my body`s needs and created an imbalance in my body. What I was left with was an extreme pain in the groin, not able to lay on a straight surface without support, not able to walk for more than 1 hour, not able to get inside the car, not able to put jeans on, forget about exercising, forget about wearing heels. Even the slightest bend in the leg caused a painful click (called a snapping hip syndrome). It took me 2 years and IV anti-inflammatories to get rid of the pain. Since Jan 2017 I started to go to yoga and was shocked how tight my hips were. Since stretching my hips and particularly iliopsoas using yoga and Youtube videos, my condition got much better and the painful click is almost gone. I'm able to...
Read moreI compete in Muay Thai and Jiu Jitsu, injuries are unfortunately a part of the sport. While fight sports are an individual endeavor, no one steps foot into a ring or mat without a strong team working with and supporting them. Dan and his team at City PT have been an integral part of my fight camps and preparation for some of my biggest events. I just wanted to share some of my experiences working with Dan and his amazing team at City PT to express my gratitude for the work that they do.
Leading up to IFMA World Championships in 2017, Dan treated me for a knee and ankle injury. Through intensive PT work with Dan and his team I fully recovered, just in time to fight in NYC and then twice in Belarus.
During the Worlds I sustained a shoulder injury and could barely extend my left arm. Panicking because the Pan American Championships were in 5 months, I immediately went to City PT after the Worlds to work with Dan. Through Dan’s help I was able to recover enough strength and mobility to win a gold medal at the Pan American Championships.
I am so grateful to everyone at City PT for everything they have done to help me get better and stronger so I could achieve my goals.
Currently I am back in physical therapy at City Pt with Helen after sustaining a shoulder injury during Jiu Jitsu. After working with them for so many years I have no doubt that I will soon be back on the mats, stronger, more mobile, and more flexible.
I recommend City PT to all of my students and anyone I come across dealing with a nagging or recent injury. They have helped and taught me so much and they can help you too. Don’t hesitate to book your appointment!

Read moreI originally went to Daniel Tahany and City PT because I saw it had 5 stars and incredibly positive reviews on Yelp. After an incredible experience I too will be leaving a 5 star review. I would give 10 stars if I could.
This past winter I slipped on ice, breaking my ankle in three place requiring surgery. I had a metal plate and pins put in and was feeling pretty down about it. I am young, active, and used to wearing heels to work and events, but I could barely get in and out of my 5th floor walk up apartment. I was dreading my prescribed six weeks of PT, but my whole outlook changed after one session with Dan and the staff. They are very warm, nurturing, helpful, and happy to help you understand your injury and push you to get well fast. I had to relearn to walk and go up stairs! But soon I was back on the beach and dancing at my friends wedding. Every day I had PT I truly looked forward to going after work and left feeling pretty positive. I asked my doctor for additional sessions, and finally after about 4-5 months my insurance wouldn't cover it anymore. Not being able to go back was actually incredibly sad for me. Even though I was mostly better, I would love to still be going. Now I've returned to regular workouts and wearing heels (albeit low sturdy ones to be safe) with no issues.
I have so much gratitude towards Dan and the staff and have been recommending City PT to everyone I know. I can't speak highly enough of the team. Trust me, you won't find a better, nicer staff to help you...
