We are locals so this is a complete disaster for any depiction of NYC Italian. The service was absolutely horrible.I am not sure what those other positives reviews are real or fake but i definitely question them because this place is a total dump. Perhaps the tourist who are not familiar with the area all fell into this trap. You can just walk a few restaurants down the street and you can tell the difference. I felt like this is a bait and switch establishment. There is a guy standing out in the street trying to heckle you into coming into his restaurant. Boasting about their food and deals. We were hungry so we fell into his “trap.” The waiter tried to make us sit inside the restaurant when clearly it was pitch dark in there and no one sitting inside. We had to ask if we can sit outside. Finally he moved us outside. Then the waiter finally comes to take our order after waiting awhile. The guy initially lured us in to try their 3 course special but then the waiter tells us it will take over 30 minute just to prepare the food so essentially discouraging us to order from their specials deal and order the regular priced menu items. We decided to just go simple and order simple pasta that shouldn’t take much time to prepare but yet we waited over 40 minutes just for our food to arrive. The place was practically empty with only one other table of 4 people who already have their food. The bread was stale and tasted like they just microwaved it before serving it to us. We sat and waited for a long time so asked for replacement bread multiples times and they ignored us. Finally they brought the simple pasta dish with some marina sauce slapped on it and served it to us on plastic plates that sat out on the tables all day while collecting dust from passengers walking by their outdoor seating. It was pitiful. Everything looks dirty and plastic. Don’t waste your time or money on this...
Read moreToday, Friday afternoon, I decided to take my wife for a nice lunch. What it was suppose to be a great time, it turned into a nightmare. As soon as we sat there, a Latino male waiter approached to our table and without saying hello, proceed to ask about something that we couldn't understand. I let him know that I waned a small paella and my wife wanted spaghetti. He didn't say a word. After aprox. 8 minutos he brouth us caprese salads, place them on the table with some attitude and left again without saying a word. As soon as he brought my wife's spaghetti, (no spoon by the way..just fork), he almost throw the Parmesan container on the table, never asked my wife if she wanted some cheese on her pasta; he just left it there. When he came back with my paella, he asked with a very loud, rude tone if we want anything to drink. At that moment my wife said : You don't need to raise your voice; we can hear what you are saying. Instead of him saying "sorry" he trough the paella so hard, that burned two fingers of my wife's left hand with the paella's wok. My wife screamed and asked him to be careful. Again. he didn't even have the courtesy of apologize or offer some ice or anything. He just kept going to the back of the restaurant as if nothing had happened. I spoke to the person in the front, who we think is the manager and explain the situation but he just said "We are sorry; enjoy your food". He never said " We will take care of the situation or we will reprimend him". We feel bad for the busboy who incredibly approached us at the table and apologized for what we went through. We couldn't enjoy the delicious food there, just because this extremely arrogant waiter ruined the first day of my wife and I going...
Read moreMy husband decided to bring me and my 4 year old here for dinner since we were in the area. We sat outside and were promptly given menus. It took some time for our waiter come to us, and a couple of the gentlemen working alerted us he’d be coming soon. Perhaps they were short on table servers, because he seemed busy inside as well. Our water had some black stuff floating in it (pepper?) and they took care of giving us a new pitcher of fresh ice water. The food was good, I got the pasta pomodoro. Although tasty and portion size good, I don’t know if their claim of fresh made pasta is true. My observation with our server was that he was overwhelmed and he wasn’t exactly friendly with every encounter he faced outside, whether it was someone at a table or someone walking past asking him questions. I brought my daughter to the restroom when we were done eating before we hit the road (we live in NJ) and the bathroom’s orange tiled sink is in need of repair. I would have taken a photo but my husband had my bag. It’s an accent sink that has small orange tiles all around but it’s leaking somewhere/appears to be quite withered in some areas and creates a pool right at the entrance of the bathroom door. I had to carry my daughter over it and alert the person who was waiting on the bathroom line about to enter the restroom I was leaving, to watch out. We took our leftovers to go and to my dismay I have to clean my car mats (thank god they’re made for spills) because our bag although stacked well, whomever in the back packed our stuff, did not bend in the aluminum folding on our to-go trays all the way through. Probably won’t be...
