Booked a 1 night stay at this hotel in early October. Overall would not return. Lobby is tiny and leaves something lacking. When I got to my room around 7pm the hallways to my room were very messy, small trash and such on the floor. Room is super tiny and nothing to write home about, you walk in and barely take a few steps and hit the bed, and the bathroom is a step away from the bed. I've stayed at a handful of hotels in NYC before, all quite a bit larger then this. When I arrived in the room the AC in the room was on full blast(not needed it was pretty cold out), and the room has no USB charging ports as. None of those are major deal breakers, when booking a "budget friendly" hotel in NYC I'm not expecting perfection. But the next portion of the story is what makes me never want to return. Arrived back at the hotel very early in the morning (3/4am) tried to take a shower, turned the handle all the way to hot, no hot water. Waited 15/20 minutes and still no hot water. Called down to front desk, they said we just need to wait longer for the hot water to kick up, stated we already waited 15/20 minutes and he said we just needed to wait longer. We waited an hour with the water on at the highest setting still no hot water, did not warm up at all. Eventually just decided to take a freezing cold shower, we were absolutely shivering. Tried to turn on the heat in the room to warm up after, and it filled the room with the burning smell and set off the fire alarm. Tried to call down to the front desk, but they did not pick up the call. Searched the room for extra blankets and found none. Eventually walked down to front desk, they stated we just need to wait longer for hot water (apparently more then an hour which is ridiculous and a huge waste of water) and stated they hadn't turned on the heat yet for the season, so the heat in the room won't work but did provide an extra blanket. Its october and pretty cold out, the heat should be turned on, and blankets should be provided in the room especially if there is no heat. That morning (during normal hours 10:30/11 am) tried the hot water again, and had the same issue, no hot water. Let it run for another 20+ minutes and still no change. Fiddled with the handle and determined their water hookup is backwards, hot is cold and cold is hot. So I wasted a whole 1.25 hours the night before and more time in the morning "waiting for this water to heat up" as instructed by the attendant when their handle was just backwards. If we followed the attendants instructions and continued to wait we would have been there all day. During check out (12pm), checked out at the front desk and discussed it with the attendant, who apologized and said we will have someone look at it for you later today... except I was checking out, which was already stated earlier in the conversation so having someone "look at it for me later in the day" would not do anything for me. So if you do go here, just try both settings on the shower, but I don't reccomend...
Read moreWith complete honesty....I must say I despise staying here. I cannot wait for my stay to be over. I think this is the worst hotel experience I've ever had. I would not call this a great value. I call this wasted money. . . . The Pros: The staff are wonderful and polite. The location is convenient. The area is quiet. 20% off of your purchases from the adjacent Starbucks next door. Next door to a bar/restaurant. Complimentary lemonade and cookies. I did not partake but it was nice (considering there's no internal bar/kitchen with it being such a small property). . . . The Cons: Your room WILL NOT have a FRIDGE.
Read moreAh, where do I start.. This hotel was booked for me by a third party company, was the only hotel with rooms available that week in Soho, and so I had no choice but to unwillingly stay at this building. Before arriving here, I scanned the reviews and did not have high expectations coming here. On the day I was arriving, I called the hotel to confirm the time I would be there. The lady on the phone was very brief and dismissed my call- that was immediately a red flag for me. By the the I have arrived, it was 10 PM, and from the outside the hotel looked underwhelming. The older lady at the front guest did not greet me (many of the staff were unwelcoming) and was not helpful. The building seemed old, was very tight, and gave off a odd, putrid smell. Upon opening up my bedroom door, that smell was even stronger. This is a non-smoking hotel, yet my room had a lingering smell of cigar smoke and felt very stuffy. I examined every inch, corner of the space, and unsurprisingly the bedroom was not thoroughly checked before the last guest left. There was hair in the wash tub, on the bathroom tiles, bath towels soiled, poop stain in the toilet, the bedsheets littered with hair, lint, and dirt.. I thought I would cry. Although I was feeling terribly disheartened, I mustered up the courage to head down and asked the lady to bring clean sheets to my room, that was the least that they could do. Needless to say, I did not have a pleasant sleep that night and woke up early with a splitting neck pain. As for the bathroom and the smell, I went down the block to buy cleaning supplies to tidy and freshen up the room myself. Some other inconveniences about the place: no laundry services provided, no daily housekeeping (unless requested), no snack/drink bar (only vending and ice machine), room cards consistently failing and needing to be reset. No, I do not recommend this hotel. I have stayed at relatively cheaper hotels in Chinatown that are much cleaner than this one! I wanted to leave the night I arrived, but the nearby hotels were either fully booked or sadly way out of the budget. This hotel is not a 3 star hotel, but only a 1 star from me. To management, please prioritize the importance of hotel...
