Update: The gallery contacted me when they saw my original review and has worked hard to make this situation right. They picked up the piece, reassessed their original response and worked with the framer to fix the issue. It now looks great! I really appreciate Uprise for turning this situation around and giving me the confidence to buy from them again in the future.
This gallery is a great place to discover up and coming artists. The have a lot of styles at reasonable prices, and make it really easy to purchase. I was so excited to make my first big art purchase from them a few years ago at the Affordable Art Fair and loved my piece. Unfortunately the frame on my art started separating in the corners shortly after I bought it and slowly kept getting worse. I finally reached out to the gallery just to inquire if they offered a warranty. To my surprise they said they’d get it fixed for me, which I was so grateful for.
Unfortunately this is where things went downhill. After many months with the framer, my art was finally returned to me and immediately I noticed that the frame now looked perfect, but the art itself was really bubbled up in several places. I contacted the gallery again and at first they were really concerned and said they’d see what they could do. But they quickly called me back and changed the tone. They said that this is a common/known problem with this artist’s work and there was nothing they could do. I explained that my art was fine before it went to the framer, and that I wouldn’t have let them fix the frame if they’d informed me of this risk. The art is obviously more important than the frame. The response was basically just a shoulder shrug. They didn’t even apologize or offer any form of compensation for this work that I spent a lot of money on, which is now damaged unnecessarily. I was also appalled and disappointed that their response was to throw the artist under the bus. This was an issue that fully could have been avoided. I really like the things they sell but I’m just not sure I can/will ever buy from them again based on...
Read moreI have purchased several pieces from Uprise over the years. Loved the experience and wanted to buy a few more things for my house. Given the climate in the Middle East, I want to support Israeli artists and got in touch to ask if they have any in their catalogue. The response was very elusive and they wouldn’t directly answer my question about Israeli artists. The non-response was very clear to me. It’s a shame that they are actively making this decision to exclude an entire ethnicity. Shows a moral rot and I will not be purchasing from them again. This trend of Jew hate will not last forever, but I will never forget that Uprise actively supports...
