I recently had an exceptional experience at Clinton Hill Hardware store, thanks to a solutions-oriented employee who went above and beyond to address an issue that wasn't even his responsibility. After purchasing paint labeled as "distant gray," I found that it didn't meet my expectations when applied to the wall. The cashier initially informed me that nothing could be done, leaving me feeling frustrated. However, a Trinidadian gentleman with locs, who I believe was not directly involved with paint mixing, stepped in and took charge of the situation.

Despite it not being his primary role, this employee demonstrated true dedication to customer satisfaction. He offered to personally mix the paint to adjust the color or even provided a tube to alter the shade. His willingness to find solutions instead of simply dismissing my concerns made all the difference. I should also add that the paint I ordered was a custom color, which I understand makes remixing a bit more complicated. Despite this, I was willing to take the risk and appreciated the employee's efforts to explore alternative solutions. This willingness to go the extra mile to accommodate a customer's needs speaks volumes about the commitment to service at Clinton Hill Hardware store. Without his intervention, I might have left the store with a negative impression.

Disappointed. Not sure why they're being sold defective products, but after returning 1 faucet for being defective (unsealed), for another faucet, the 2nd sealed faucet, exhibited the exact same defect (witnessed in person by my client, who was watching the entire installation).

When I brought the defective part of the faucet back, I was told (read: chastised and talked down to, as if I don't know how to install faucets or handle the basic installation of plumbing parts) it was my fault. I clearly showed two employees the hairline fracture on the sprayer hose.

Claiming not to see it (after showing it to them twice), I was then asked if I needed their plumbing people to assist me with the defective products they sold me. While they do not have any responsibility or obligation to take the blame for a sealed package sold to them, telling me that I don't know what I'm doing, or that the client and I didn't see what we saw, is degrading. My Handyman and Plumbing reputation is all I have. For 15 years, I've never taken on a job I didn't think I was capable of. From this point on, all of my clients will be purchasing their own products to avoid issues like this, but to have a store that I used to trust, blame me for things beyond the control of either of us, is not something I'm prepared...

My dog was attacked in your store, by a lady who was busy shouting at the staff and not paying attention to her aggressive boxer-pitt mix. The staff didn’t ask the lady to leave and no one helped while I was wrestling on the floor trying to free my small dog from her aggressive dog’s mouth. I don’t blame them for not getting in the way of this scary dog, but no one even asked this lady to leave. As I wrestled her dog off of mine, she screamed at me and accused me of causing the issue. This lady and her dog are DANGEROUS and I suggest you ban her from the store, as next time it could be a child. There’s no chance that this is the first time the dog has attacked, and it’s clear that she refuses to take any responsibility. I suggest if you have her contact info, or if you have security cameras, to save the footage, or file a dangerous dog report. I would love to do so, but I do not have her contact info as I rushed out of the store with my dog once it was clear that this lady just wanted a screaming match.
