I see El Cofre has reached the level where it can afford to lose customers. I've eaten at El Cofre for years and have always enjoyed the baked chicken. However there are other places that make it just as good AND provide good service. El Cofre, it is possible to achieve both! My last time walking into El Cofre, I walked in and was not acknowledged even though there were 3 ppl behind the counter packing delivery bags. I waited ... a woman came in after me, no acknowledgement ... then a man comes in and the same. We're all just standing there like a bunch of idiots while we're ignored by the staff. I walked out. We're dealing with inflation, going through a recession; we all work hard for our $ and deserve respect wherever we choose to spend it. I've put El Cofre on PAUSE for now with no date to return in the foreseeable future. Good luck to those who still patronize this place, you deserve better!! Side note: It's also concerning that there are no menus available because the prices are not stable and when I look at my receipt, everything was marked as a custom order even though its a...
Read moreIf I can Rate my experience here it will be negative 1. It's 17 degrees outside so I went in to order some coffee and an empanada. I asked for creams with sugars. The rep chuckled no creams just milk and sugar. I ordered then ate at the restaurant. When it was time to leave I asked for a bin cause I didn't want to leave my trash on the table. The same rep said no trash in here and walked away. I asked "what do I do with the trash?" With her hands in the air she said I don't know throw it outside! She repeated "I said there is no trash and laughed with her colleagues. This time her tone was higher. It was a genuine question and as a paying customer this attitude was such a turn off. I took my empty coffee cup and tissues and left with it. I did say to her, you are very unprofessional and I don't appreciate the way you are speaking to me. I will NEVER!! EVER recommend this place to anyone!! No one deserves this level of...
Read moreThis is an indispensable neighborhood spot. Authentic, cafeteria style Dominican food. They have many roast meats options, lots of stews, puff pastries that looked similar to empanadas, and different kinds of rice as well as beans. They also do a variety of soups. The lady who made my plate was so sweet and gave me recommendations, and filled my plate with HEAPS of food, thank you! The roast pork with red beans and rice was delicious. The pork was succulent and generously portioned. They put a few spoonfuls of meat sauce over the food which made the plate extra juicy and flavorful. Very cheap prices! Best value on Myrtle Ave 100%. My plate of sooo much rice, beans and roast port was only $11. It was really two servings worth of food. They also do a lunch deal for $10. I am so glad I tried this place out. I will be back! The roast chicken...
