Costco Tire Service Center — Local services in New York

I love Costco, and used this tire center once, but no more.

Wow, is this place a mess. It's worse than having nothing - it's filled with annoyed customers and equally bitter and annoyed employees.

The lines are eternal, it's massively understaffed, nobody answers the phone, they kinda sorta want you to have an appointment (I'm not sure how we're supposed to make these since the phone is rarely answered), but also want you to wait in line for any transactions, and it seems to have a relatively limited selection of tires (in my one hour waiting to buy a battery this morning, they had three other folks they needed to send away with a cash rebate since they could not repair their tires or replace them with something in stock).

To make it worse, the batteries are carried inside the tire center and you have to wait in the 1 hour + line (this is not an exaggeration...I had to buy two iPhone games to keep my daughter from melting down while waiting for the line to advance 4 or 5 people) to get a price or buy a battery.

I would have walked out much earlier and gone somewhere - anywhere - else except it's basically the only thing open on Sunday in the neighborhood. I should have left...I could have made it to somewhere in Long Island or New Jersey and back in that time. My loyalty to Costco is high, but this place is a scandal -...

Cannot overemphasize how seamless and excellent my tire buying and installation was. Ordered and scheduled the install on-line. When I arrived, my new tires were already stacked near the entrance and ready to go. Desk people were perfectly polite and responsive. The install began promptly at the appointed time, and about 45 minutes later, as I strolled up with my cart after shopping in store, my vehicle was being backed out of the shop by two people (carefully) and my phone began to ring informing me the install was complete. Zero wait time. There was plastic protection on both the driver's seat and steering wheel. Had requested that one of my previous set be mounted on the spare rim; replacing the old spare. They did this matter of factly, no extra charge, and the tools to drop the spare were properly replaced inside my truck. My requested tire pressures were done precisely, confirmed by my TPMS on the way out. Learned also that the tires were eligible to be rotated and balanced, free of charge, every 6,000 miles. How great is that? In a world of ever increasing customer service disappointment, this stood out as the opposite. Stellar. And at an excellent price point. Could not be happier with the experience. I purchased my tires off Costco.com. It gives you the option to pickup the tires or to pick a Costco Tire service center. Once you pick your service center it takes you to a separate page where you can schedule your appointment online. I received an email my tires were ready for pickup 3/4 days after ordering them. I could have called or gone online to move my installation appointment up, but it wasn't necessary. Two days before my appointment I received a reminder via email, then a text reminder the day before. I showed up 10 mins late for my appointment, but no one made a fuss. Latrell, checked me in expeditiously, asked for my name, order number, and car key. They pulled my car into the service center and told me it wouldn't be more than a hour to come back for it. There's a really cute sculpture garden next door, so I hung out in there and forgot about my car. Michael (I think that was his name) called me and let me know my car was ready. I was greeted by Latrell upon pickup, he explained my warranty information, confirmed that nitrogen air was put into the tires and if I ever use regular air they'll correct that on a tire service.

Overall great and easy experience. Happy I chose Costco and this location to...
