1000% my home away from home gym. This is the second time I've been there and both have been fantastic experiences. And great example below! My hotel was in a different spot this visit so I actually called or tried to coordinate with three other CrossFit gyms in the city see a different space - and also was asking to do a half marathon row alongside everybody else doing Murph because of a knee injury. The others were only slightly welcoming and not completely eager to accommodate. I totally get that there's a limited amount of space and this is a favored workout so there would be a lot of people, but it was more of the spirit difference. When I sent the same question to Crossfit Hell's kitchen they were big w open arms and significant welcoming w eagerness to have me join, plus they were the only one of all of them that had no cost to the drop in for the memorial day workout. They had food they had a sideline business that brought energy drinks, and it was just a great community feel. Plus as an example to the consistent community I actually got to see and say hello to two of the gym members that I had done a partner workout with the first time I visited! I'll never go anywhere else when I'm in town!

Highly recommended. Dropped in once with Nico coaching in the morning. He’s excellent — patient, clear, attentive, giving constructive feedback throughout the group training. Definitely one of the strongest coaches I’ve ever met around the world. The experience was rewarding. The regular members were all friendly too. Great vibe. This CrossFit box is clean and spacious — lots of bars and rigs, with a shower facility and changing room (quite recently renovated or added apparently). Wet wipes and bins available for ppl to wipe things down. The WODs are clearly shown in the website for ppl to sign up, so you can easily plan ahead depending on your schedule and workout need for the day.

CrossFit Hell’s Kitchen is hands down one of the best boxes I’ve ever dropped into. Tom and the members immediately make you feel welcome, and the programming is top-notch. In a city as big and busy as NYC, finding a little slice of belonging in the CrossFit community means everything—and this place delivers. The supportive atmosphere, great coaching, and well-rounded workouts make it stand out. On top of that, the gym has all the extras you might need—clothes, shoes, FitAid, protein shakes—making it your one-stop shop. If you’re in NYC and looking for a CrossFit home or just visiting, this will be your best find!

Very confusing and inefficient reservation and communication process Super rude attitude

Moved back to midtown I was hoping to find a good box to do regular WO. So I filled a form on this box’s website hoping to have a trial class before making my decision.

I do appreciate the first email Anthony sent saying I could come as a guest for a drop in. But i got no reply on my three following emails ( I mailed him on Feb 10th 6pm, 10pm and 11th 11pm) So I came in the gym 10mins earlier of the 830am class hope to get some information and hopefully take the class.

No one was at the reception and Anthony was coaching 5 people. I felt the vibe was kind of lack of energy. But anyway I waited. As it’s almost 830, I approached to Anthony and asked about the class which supposed to start. He said the class is actually every 60mins instead of 30mins showing on his website. So I already missed it. I was very confused so I asked about our previous email communication and the class schedule showing on the website. He became very impatient and asked me to wait. So I kept on waiting.

Later a young lady came in for a beginner trial class. We both waited together for a while. Then Anthony came back to sign her in. I asked him again about my previous signed up through emails. He started to unreasonably blame me on not following process and replied late. And when I further asked a final timeline to confirm my reservation, he started yelling at me that he’s wasting time on me and I’m not even belong to the box....Both me and the new coming young lady was shocked by his rude attitude. I never seen such a rude person before and left right away... and that’s the only true thing he said - I ll never belong to this box.

Again, I appreciated his first email to ask me try out a class as guest. That’s why I emailed couple of times to confirm the time, and proposed to come one day later than my original reservation to let him have more time to process my request. I also came to the gym 10mins earlier of the 830am class hope to allow some time to get clarification. But what I got is ignorance and a horrible yell on!!!

Thinking back, I kind of understand he was stressed as he was the ONLY staff there. The class is ongoing, new people are signing in, there are hundreds of emails piling on reservation/inquiries, and I was there with questions. But the problem is apparently the POOR MANAGEMENT of the box. Adding staff and treating people with manner could be a start to make...

You couldn’t pay me to go to this crossfit gym. Have trained at multiple crossfit gyms for about a year. Never felt so unwelcome. Arrive and ask “hi do you work here.” Employee possibly the owners says unironically, “isn’t it obvious?” Then he proceeds to talk down to me. I let him know that I emailed about the trial class. He tells me they only do those on weekdays, not something it says on the website. Then I ask if he received my email and he says, “no, I’m really good, I respond to every email.” I said, “oh I emailed twice did I get the right email?” Hey tells me he doesn’t care he checks every email. I came to try a class and see if I wanted to go to HK Crossfit. I wouldn’t trust this organization to handle my fitness if my life depended on it. There are far better options in NYC

Update post-owner comment: Owner is one of the rudest people you will ever meet, but more importantly he is unwilling and unable to fix basic issues with his service such as registration. If you look at reviews on Yelp, you can also see that aside from some bizarrely written positive reviews, there are numerous complaints about the type of instruction received and injuries from the classes. Don't go with a third rate instructor who does not listen.

Owner claims I was trying to pull one over on him merely for following the guidance listed on his website regarding trial classes. Have been a member of crossfit gyms for a year paying full freight and really enjoyed the experience. This owner is a poor reflection of crossfit. Other options in the area include Barry's Bootcamp, Equinox, Classpass or on the less expensive end PlanetFitness. Owner is having to offer the classes on Groupon because he has a chip on his shoulder and has mismanaged his business into the ground. This will also make the experience worse for everyone. Yelp and other places have more reviews on this business that show you what type of experience you will get. Don't...

What an incredible home away from home

'everyone is welcome here's is the first thing you'll see in the gym window with a proud pride flag.

Hells kitchen and it's team run by time and his wife are the vehbbest of what CrossFit spaces can be. Community. Heart. And changing life's through pursuit of fitness.

I dropped into hellskitchen for a week whilst in new York for work. Everything was easy dn nothing too much trouble. Simple sign up online. Communicative staff via Instagram. And walked right into open gym to a well equipped gym with two floors and everything you could need

I came in and did my open workout and had an appropriate judge for my score. I was pushed and coached by amazing coaches and I was welcomed with open arms to judge and get involved.

As a CF coach whose travelled all over I was impressed with every staff member. Knowledgeable coaches with Greta values making sure classes scale for the elite and the new.

Tom is a 22 year vet and his knowledge and passion shines through. Whether I was taking a class or pottering around in open gym I could hear him and all his coaches really driving and giving tips to every member

I think seeing on one afternoon and entire class was made up of drops ins from all around the world really shows the testament of the place

I was made to feel welcome by every member and staffer I felt instantly at home and better yet the community itself was like 'its like you've always been here's and I was struck by the members saying this place was where they made friends when the moved to a very lonely city (time and time again)

The beauty of what we do is we can just walk into a gym and have a shared language and suffering as a group for better health

Thank you Tom and the team. Truly need more boxes like this. I'll be...
