Note: Mandatory Tip!!! They’re relentless until you give what they want. A friend recommended saying it’s the cheapest one in Chinatown. So we didn’t go to our regular Kelly’s or the one near Kelly’s and instead went to this one. They claim cutting for woman is $6 per person but when we were done told me it was 8 (there is a indiscreet line somewhere in the store that says ‘long hair add 2’). My hair is less than shoulder-length. Ok. Fine. And the person cutting my hair wet my hair without drying it after cutting. When I walked out it was freezing outside and my hair gave me headache. The worst thing? They demanded mandatory tip. My husband only had a one dollar bill and a five dollar. They refused to break the 5 so we have the one. They demanded more after getting the one. And kept yelling tip as we walked out. Honestly with the secret price add and tip and everything, the price is almost the same as any other barber shop in China town (but worse service). So, totally not worth it. Please go somewhere else.

————- update ————-

I got home, took a close look at my hair. And it’s not even evenly cut... The front and back have such a weird difference. Even if it was free I wouldn’t want someone to cut it... I would need to go somewhere else to...

HORRIBLE SKILLS. Typical mainland China attitude. Faded sides do not even match (who doesn’t want the sides of your head to match??) In short, you get what you pay for, but you’re better off finding $12 chinatown barber.

Do not go to woman in middle. DOES NOT LISTEN to what you ask. Cuts are about 10 minutes, yet why practice on so many heads without mastery …

Visit 1: Asked just for a fade, don’t cut the top (when top was 1 inch). Sides uneven. Charged me $8 (women) instead of $7 (men) since I was assigned female at birth, despite being masculine with mens buzz cut. No problem either way I am giving $10 flat, but applying gender rules without logic is not cute. After seeing my haircut another masculine womxn in the queue asked for shorter cut too ☺️ - so I am not alone in my experience.

Visit 2: Immediately asked not to cut cowlick and entire top of head. Showed photo of low taper. Don’t bother showing a photo - they don’t have the skill! She cuts the cowlick of course. Sides are totally uneven.

PS- I did come in with uneven hair due to fancy line design. But if you low taper and fade up in gradient , surely both sides can have some amount of...

This barber shop is like any other place in Manhattan, the looks on the outside aren't getting your attention. EXCEPT FOR THEIR PRICE! A $5 men's haircut and ANY STYLE is INCREDIBLY CHEAP, and that doesn't mean poor quality. The barbers really know what they are doing and have a license to cut hair. You can always relax despite there being a scissor always touching your head. The cut was great and the style was PERFECT. If you took someone there without telling them any price they would've thought it was $15-$20. The place is clean, with entertainment despite your 4 minute stay. The barbers can talk if you want to, or be silent, but they are very nice and caring either way. Why go someplace flashy, expensive, and nice, when you can go somewhere, nice, CHEAP, homey, happy, and good quality for a haircut. After the cut, there are a bunch of stores right outside, so you grab a $2.50 BUBBLE TEA on tues and thurs, shop at supermarkets, grab some drinks and whatever you can....

If you need a haircut faster than you can say "chop-chop," this is your place! Their barbers move with the precision of a chef at a dim sum restaurant, serving up your new look before your dumplings get cold. The ambiance? Think less "fancy salon" and more "efficient, no-nonsense Chinese barber shop." Getting a cut here made me feel more in touch with that 1/4 Chinese of me that's smarter and probably knows a bit of kung-fu. It’s not just a haircut; it's a cultural experience. Convenience? Top-notch. I got my haircut while my laundry was being done at Madison Supreme. By the time my socks were clean, so was my hairline – talk about multi-tasking! Da Zhong is where it's at. Go there if you want to feel smart and look sharp.

6 dollar cut, 2 dollar extra for a shampoo. Very considerate and attentive staff. Ms. Li was awesome and really took care of me. Highly recommend.
