I searched up and down the streets of Chinatown to find the best steamed juicy buns (xiao long bao), and happened across this precious gem! The photos looked so good, I asked the manager three times if these were actual photos of their food! She said yes… And she was not lying! They came out exactly as pictured and even better. Why am I writing a review which might work against me in getting a table when I want to go next time? B/c first of all, I don’t want them to go out of business like many small Chinatown and other restaurants have across the city, but also b/c if someone does something consistently better, they deserve a shout out! So now to the bao— the skin is so thin and delicate that they will break if not handled with care and the savory juice from the meat will ooze out. The meat is tender and tasty and melts in your mouth. They can provide ginger if you ask, as it doesn’t automatically come with it. And they also serve tea in a teapot with paper cups! So great for germaphobes like me. Chopsticks and spoons are also disposable. The crabmeat on top also adds a succulent delight, even though you can order w/o the crabmeat as well. And they recommend to eat in b/c these bao should be eaten right off the steamer for the best experience. Highly recommend you try the place. Which is mostly patronized by Chinese people, at least when I went, so you know it’s authentic! It’s not fancy and more like a very clean coffee shop but the xiao long bao are on par with the...
Read moreThe restaurant was pack which led me to believe that this was a very good restaurant. Once inside waiting for the servers to call our number for a table which we share with 3 other couples. I see that it is really packed in a small room with hardly enough lights which also seemed to be in a need for some cleaning work, but i stayed because i seen worse. The Waitresses will keep you waiting no matter how much you are trying to draw their attention, took me 15 - 20mins just to get water which i believe is absurd. When we finally get our chance of ordering the Waitress strongly or should i say chose what i should eat even if i didn't want it. example:me:i would like to have the (random food) waitress: No you wouldn't like that its more like a soup you should get this one (random food) me: OK but can i have it with (random topping) Waitress : are you sure you want that i think you should stay with this don't get that. I am not bad mouthing the waitress but i think the saying "Customer is always right" applies to even ordering food especially when i wanted to try something new. When we have attained our food its hard to believe it was Good and Huge. The portion of the food could feed me and 2 more people. I couldn't finish my food or even the delicious dumplings they serve. I recommend trying out this restaurant but only if you have the patients and tolerance for...

Review: I ventured into Deluxe Green Bo Restaurant in Chinatown, NYC, hoping for a quick and delightful Chinese meal. The setting is unpretentiously adorned with basic Chinese decor, giving off a casual vibe. Despite its compact size, the place was bustling with every table occupied, signaling its popularity.
The service was commendably fast, a relief given the crowd. I ordered sesame chicken and chicken soup with corn, both of which arrived in portions generous enough to feed two. While the intent to impress with quantity is appreciated, the sesame chicken was regrettably over-seasoned, overshadowing its potential flavors. The soup was hearty but similarly excessive for a single diner, and the lack of takeaway option due to my formal meeting later was inconvenient.
The menu, dense with an array of dishes, seemed overly ambitious, reflected through the small font and scant visuals. This made navigating the choices less inviting. Although the food quality was generally good, it fell short of being remarkable. Deluxe Green Bo is suitable for a quick, casual dining experience but might not be the ideal setting for a romantic evening or if you prefer subtler seasoning and more...
