I now understand the obsession with backpacking. Really enjoyed my trip with Destination backcountry. I found this company in a google search so wasn’t sure about what i was getting into. Right from the start Dave and Jessie were so helpful and answered all my questions via email before the trip. Dave, Jessie and the guides- Mo, Dylan and Ted,- are so knowledgeable and happy to share their knowledge. Helping me source water and firewood, showing me how to put my pack on and much more. This was my first tent camping trip and destination back country made it a great one. They had equipment I could borrow so I didn’t have to purchase any ( tent/backpack) We went on a really beautiful hike and woke up to rain in the am ( which made it an even more enjoyable). They really take their time to pick a good trail thats not crowded and where you can enjoy our time. The guides were so welcoming fun to chat with. They also read the group well on how we wanted proceed as the trip went on. Thank you to the whole team for answering my millions of questions. Super fun group of people (I went not knowing any one else). I highly recommend Destination Backcountry and look forwards to more trips.

I have nothing but good things to say about DBA. I've only been on hikes/camping trips with them 3 times and I just can't get enough. All the guides are funny, respectful, knowledgeable and professional. They are also super chill and friendly to talk to regardless your hiking/camping experience. I just went on an overnight trip with Alexandra Witter, she's amazing! She's on top of her game and made sure everyone was taken care of by cooking, setting up tents, collecting water, starting fire etc. she worked tirelessly to ensure we enjoyed our experience. The owner Dave and his wife always stop by to say hi with their adorable baby girl to everyone when they drop off gears. They also make home made sauce for us to enjoy. Dave is kind enough to offer me a free overnight trip after 2 camping trips got cancelled but I didn't get notified in time. That just shows how serious he is about his business and to make sure that his customers are happy and satisfied. It's a tight community with a family style where you can just feel the tight bond between the employees themselves and the frequent hikers. I'm def. going to sign up for another trip with them soon!

This past weekend I went on great hike. I choose ones of the hardest trips they offer. I was fortunate enough to have been guided by Dave, Jess & Kristen; who happen to be the kindest people out there. We were also accompanied by a trustworthy dog named Winnie. We had done a strenuous 3 day hike(sat-mon) through the catskills. Our guides were patient and reassuring. They were well prepared with food and always had a supply of fresh cold water. They were also knowledgeable of the terrain, so at no point did we ever feel lost. Kristen was also super patient. There was ample supply of treats. Dave & Jess had prepared awesome dinners that was unexpected given that we were in the deep Forrest. Dave, if you read this, your asparagus & steak tacos was dope. We look forward to going on other hikes with them.

BE AWARE!!!! I’d rate zero stars if I could. I signed up and paid for the 8/24/2025 full day excursion “ Secret, swimming holes, easy hike, transportation and lunch included”. I emailed them for confirmation and received this message stating, “As of right now we're not. TBH, part of the issue is that our childcare hasn't showed up in 2 weeks (sasy she's sick...) and we are so far behind in life. Are you free on Labor Day weekend? I'd be happy to offer you both a 15% discount on any Labor Day weekend adventure. After we get these kids to bed I'll be at my desk and can offer more details” Then I emailed again for 8/31/2025 confirmation of the same excursion but never got an email reply. So I called and he said he would definitely let me know by Sunday, Monday the latest. Monday was yesterday. I need to make my Labor Day weekend plans. This is very unprofessional, inconsiderate and rude. Makes me think this business is a scam. I still have not been reimbursed $109. I tried calling him last night and the phone did not ring which could be that he blocked my call, most likely did as I asked somebody else to call him and the phone did ring. So disappointing. People are crooks and we all need to be aware. These folks should be ashamed...
