In the two years I have been a patient there, I have been shuffled between 6 social workers (they ALL quit the center) and disinterested medical support staff.
The center seemingly cannot retain any staff because management and leadership are incompetent, apathetic, and/or completely disinterested in providing adequate mental health care for their patients.
Try calling the office, or the intake department, and talking to some of the people who work there and you will see EXACTLY what I mean.
I will be sure to take this up with the board of directors, mayor's office, and the NYS Board of Professional Misconduct to make sure New York State code is enforced and those involved in my treatment are held accountable.
I feel compelled to take action so that others who don't have the time or strength to advocate for themselves can get better care; accordingly, I will contact as many supervisors, legal professionals, and elected representatives as necessary to see that this center gets straightened out.
If you are a parent, then please consider looking elsewhere for the care of your children -- they will not be cared for here.
If I could give less than 1 star I would.
If you are on the board, then please consider replacing the leadership.
George A. Thompson, Esq. President Nadine L. Juste-Beckles, MPA, Secretary Donna Smith, LCSW
WHY IS THIS PLACE RUN SO POORLY?
The Park Slope center is a true disgrace from top to bottom and should be burnt down (metaphor) and rebuilt from scratch; The center you are responsible for overseeing is disgraceful. Brooklyn deserves better. NY deserves better. ALL human beings deserve better -- and the treatment provided at PCSMH -- both in how they care for their patients and staff --...
Read moreThe clinic is a great place for therapy and as a bonus, they have psychiatric medication management. I read the reviews but most of them don't take into account the availability that ALMOST ALL MENTAL HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS HAVE.
It's a stressful time and many people are in need of support but sadly, as a result, everywhere has a waitlist and can't take every client. The Front Desk staff is amazing and extremely helpful. In one encounter, there was a one sided verbal altercation a client had with a Front Desk over scheduling (which was completely out of their hands). Their Office Manager handled it very professionally and with great diligence especially for someone that looked very young. I've dealt with the pass Office Managers and staff that were much older but didn't have the professionalism and calmness this young man had.
Only thing that needs some work is their Intake Department. They have nice young girls that are very understanding and really are trying their very best in these troubling times. Again, they're amazing but they're kinda difficult to get a hold of but when they do, they offer nothing but support.
I’ve been a client here for sometime and they’ve sure come along way especially within the last year.
I had to take the time to write this review because of the ones posted are from people who didn't get their way. I've sent it when I've been there in person. My people treat the staff like they're not humans only because they didn't...
Read moreDo not trust this center with your mental health care. My family had been using this center for many years and the quality of both the front desk staff and the therapists went downhill. The front desk staff is unresponsive, makes mistakes and won't acknowledge them, and has often made no effort at basic customer service. Like other users, we have had appointments made without our prior knowledge or consent. There is also poor communication between the therapists, psychologists, and the front desk staff so processes go unexplained and it's hard to get answers.
What's worse, however, is how my son's therapist oversaw his care. She did not go over a treatment plan with us and did not attempt to find out what our goals for his treatment were. Without input from his parents or psychiatrist, she decided he was done with therapy and closed his case without our consent. This meant he was cut off from his medication. His psychiatrist wasn't informed what was happening. Our emails and calls went unanswered. The administration was unaware of the lack of communication on the therapist's end. This was a breach of duty of care. We received no paperwork or notification of the closure of our case. It's absurd for a center for Mental Health to ghost a patient, and a minor at that.
There aren't words strong enough to express how poorly this center is...
