Edit: after a call with the manager they were very nice and they removed the additional day charge which I feel was fair since if I had been told the price from the start I would've returned the car sooner. So lesson learned, and I guess next time I'll be more careful to revise the contract and not just blindly trust what I'm told. OP: I got charged almost twice as much as initially told... They asked if I wanted insurance and I said yes, but then they added a whole bunch of optional protections they didn't even ask for and that I didn't really want. I specifically asked how much I would be charged if I returned the car a bit late, and the lady said they would be closed so they would only charge me $20 for the overnight parking. She didn't mention they would charge a whole other extra day and I ended up paying $200 more instead of the $20 she told me. She also didn't even explain that the car already had minimum liability coverage before she charged me 4 additional protections... They also charged a security deposit that they didn't even explain. The car was ok but I do wish costs had been a lot more clear.

The WORST car rental SCAM experience from this location. Do NOT rent from enterprise. We were given a beat up car with a loose fender, absolutely reeking of cigarette smoke. We questioned if this was ok to rent with the damage and were told it was normal for NYC. They were pushing an insurance policy on us even after we were adamant that our credit card policy covers additional damages. We do a ONE day rental and they hit us with an incident report. We even have a 360 degree video of the terrible condition of the car before we rented it and now they’re trying to have our credit card cover the damages. Never mind that it would be physically impossible to incur that much damage in a single day! Absolutely unacceptable and quite possibly the worst car rental experience we’ve ever had. In hindsight, we should have just rejected the car in the first place and saved ourselves the headache. We will be reporting to the FTC and the BBB as this is a complete waste of our time and I’d hate for other people to deal with something like this.

Kevin was amazing and stayed late beyond his shift to help us with an issue. Thank you so much for going above and beyond!

I’ve been an Enterprise Plus member for years and have always considered Enterprise my go-to rental agency. To get my family home to Delaware from NYC, we reserved a one-way rental from Enterprise’s Greenwich Village branch at 221 Thompson St, chosen for its proximity to our hotel. The evening before pickup, a representative called to confirm the reservation and ensure we still needed the car. I confirmed and thanked him for the courtesy.

The next morning, after a 30-minute walk from our hotel—and just one minute away from the rental office—we received a call from the branch manager, Dan Brewer, informing us that they were overbooked, had run out of cars, and our reservation would not be honored. Inside the office, Dan offered no apology or assistance. His justification: “Things like this happen, it’s out of my control.” When I asked why we weren’t notified earlier—especially after confirming the night before—he gave me a blank stare and explained he’d recently moved from Vermont, had only been on the job six months, and was simply following protocol and instructions from his manager, Nick Lala.

When we suggested he contact another Enterprise location to help fulfill the confirmed reservation, he refused. He dismissed our suggestions and reiterated that it was out of his control, claiming he had no way to reach other branches. Neither Dan nor his two staff members made any effort to help us resolve the situation. He was dismissive and suggested we “go to the Enterprise airport location—they always have cars.” That location is a 40-minute cab ride from Greenwich Village during that hour. When I asked if he could help by at least confirming availability, he said he had no contacts there and couldn’t help.

We had already checked out of our hotel. Our daughter was waiting in the lobby with all our luggage, relying on this rental to get home. We stepped outside, Googled the LaGuardia Enterprise contact number, and called them ourselves—only to be told they had no cars available. Thankfully, we had already recognized Dan’s lack of professionalism and didn’t rely on his advice.

This experience was unacceptable on multiple levels. Enterprise appears to have no internal protocol for employees to communicate across locations, and in an age of instant connectivity, that is both inefficient and inexcusable. This incident left us stranded without warning, and the lack of professionalism and customer care at this location was deeply disappointing. Dan’s dismissive attitude and lack of training reflect poorly not just on him, but on his manager and the company’s standards. For a billion-dollar industry not to implement basic communication tools across its network is laughable.

Would I rent from this location again? Absolutely not. I now have serious doubts about the reliability of any future reservation with Enterprise. We eventually made it home by renting from Budget at LaGuardia—who, unlike Enterprise, actually had vehicles and treated us...

I typically refrain from leaving reviews, as my experiences are usually positive. However, I feel compelled to share my recent experience, which was disappointing. My wife and I visited New York City from Pennsylvania to see family, and we encountered car trouble that left us stranded near the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Fortunately, my son was able to secure a rental vehicle for us to pick up from the Enterprise location in Greenwich Village and drop off in Pennsylvania. Upon entering the location, I was not greeted, and I encountered an employee named Hector who displayed a distinctly unprofessional attitude. My experience was further exacerbated when I simply requested to use the restroom, resulting in an insult rather than assistance. This level of customer service is unacceptable, especially considering the stressful circumstances of being stranded during rush hour on a Friday afternoon in New York City. While another employee named Kevin initially provided helpful service, I later discovered that he had added an extra option to my rental agreement, costing $16 per day, which I had not agreed to. Additionally, the vehicle provided to me was in an unsatisfactory condition, being extremely dirty and not even having a full tank of gas—only half a tank was offered. This experience has left me feeling that the level of professionalism displayed was far below expectations. As a paying customer, I believe it is important to receive respectful and attentive service. I sincerely hope that a manager or supervisor addresses this situation and provides Hector with the necessary training in customer service. Overall, this experience was far from satisfactory. I was forced to leave a 1 star review because Google automatically makes you enter a star at least to actually post the review. If it were up to me, i would rate this location a...

I highly suggest no one, and I repeat no use rentals from enterprise on 221 THOMPSON street. I was issued an a rental with Expired Registration since June, 3Oth. I was in a car accident with lower pack pains. They issued the rental to me on November, 1 2021. The next day I woke up the car was gone, it was towed. I call 311 to check, afterwards I call enterprise to let them know the registration was expired and it has been towed. So I asked them are you going to issue me another rental because that’s they’re fault the registration wasn’t up to date. They told me no until the rental comes back. November 2nd went by no attempt made or no call back. November 3rd I call enterprise still no attempts made i even went to enterprise and drop the keys off in pain barley can walk. I had to do what I could do there was nothing being done. November 4th call again still no attempts made and no car issued. Now I’m in pain and frustrated because I’m postponing orthopedic appointments. Now it’s November 5th and still no attempts made or no one even trying to help me at all. Now I’m fed up, so I call State farm to notify them of the situation. So StateFarm decided to call enterprise at that location and still enterprise rejects to cancel the contract. So now I’m in pain and have postpone my orthopedic appointments. But I was issued a rental with expired registration since June, 30th now we in November. Some on please...
